A lip treatment and tint in one: A look at Issy and Co.'s Hydragloss colors

Beauty brands are stepping up these days in incorporating treatment with their makeup. Issy and Co’s Hydragloss (P209) has made waves in being a lip treatment and lip color in one cute tube. Let’s test it out!

The Hydragloss colors I have are Jell-Oh, H.O.T. and Punch. They appear super pigmented on the tube, making one think of fruity summer colors. Upon smelling, there was no fragrance or “flavor” that I would usually get in some lip glosses. I swatched them on my arm and it was surprising that I didn’t get a sticky texture. It glides more syrupy and didn’t leave an overt residue when wiped off with a tissue.

Even though the colors were pigmented on the tube, they appeared very sheer on my arm and on my lips, providing just a hint of color. As I have hyperpigmentation (i.e. tiny freckles) on my lips visible in bright light, the slight tint makes the hyperpigmentation marks less obvious.

Jell-OH is a warm orange shade. On the tube, the color reminds me of orange juice. The sparkly particles in the tube were not very obvious when on the lips, so it’s quite natural when worn on its own. The orange color may look intimidating on the tube but it freshens up the face.

Punch is a plum shade, and this is what I liked the best. It goes well with berry-colored cheek tints or liquid blush. It’s not really dark and in fact gives that hint of color your lips need. H.O.T. gave me the same effect as Punch, except this one was on the warmer side. It’s great on top of Barbie pink lips to give it a bit of depth and I think this also would look good for bridal wear or for flower girls

Another thing I would like to point out is the sponge tip applicator. This one had a scooped shape, and the applicator tip actually looks like a ballerina’s foot on a perfect pointe.  The curved end conveniently “scoops” the product and you only need that amount on your lips.

On my lips, it feels like a light moisturizer and not a sticky syrup. I wore this when I went running (with a mask of course) and I didn’t have gloss marks on my face after. It also didn’t travel all over my face when I taught yoga.  I think what happens when I use this product is that the lips “drink” up the oil so it does the job of moisturizing my lips rather than just sitting on top.

The Hydragloss can be worn on its own to deliver a nice glassy shine on the lips. My preferred way of wearing this is on top of lip liner or lipstick. If you find liquid lipsticks too drying, you can place a bit of Hydragloss on top so it doesn’t feel and look so dry! In the photo here, I wore H.O.T. on top of a warm pink lipstick; it made my lips look fuller and more hydrated.

Issy and Co’s Hydragloss are currently available online via Shopee and Lazada. They have a very student-friendly price point of Php 209 so feel free to hoard shades to share with family and friends.
