Bye, dry lips: The In Her Element Nourishing Cocoa Balm is our dream lip balm

The very first product of In Her Element when it launched almost two years ago is the Nourish & Cleanse Balm. It was a multi-purpose balm that you can apply all over your body but we had to discontinue it since we wanted to focus on new products down the road. Some months back though, a friend of mine shared that her friend LOVED our balm in the harsh Australian winter since it was the only thing that kept her lips alive. That’s when I had the idea of making a more portable version of the balm - something people can travel with or just casually throw in their bags everyday!

The new In Her Element Nourishing Cocoa Balm (P185 /5 grams at inherelement.ph) has everything that people loved about our first balm, but has the addition of being in a travel-friendly tube. It’s a chocolate-smelling balm that literally glides on the lips like butter. It looks pinkish in the tube but the balm applies clear and has a shiny finish at first. Once it sinks on the lips, it becomes more matte and works perfectly with any lipstick you have in your collection.

What makes this lip balm different from your average petroleum-based lip balm is that it has a coconut oil, beeswax, and cocoa butter base. What this means is that it actually moisturizes the lips; it doesn’t just sit on top of the surface preventing the existing moisture from evaporating.

It makes sense for my brand to make lip balm because it is one of the most indispensable steps in my skincare routine. Our lips receive a lot of abuse everyday, after all, so it’s important to keep it moisturized and healthy just like the rest of our skin! I love using the Nourishing Cocoa Balm two ways:

  • Lipstick primer. I apply this right after I do my foundation so that it gets ample time to sink into my lips. Since I usually apply my lipstick last, the balm has already done its moisturizing magic! It doesn’t ruin the finish or wear time of any lipstick formula once it is absorbed by the lips, plus the lipstick glides on easier and more evenly.

  • Overnight lip mask. When my lips are extra dry and chapped, I like using this as an overnight treatment. I just slather a generous amount on my lips then go to sleep. Plus points for the chocolate-y scent so it feels like a treat! My lips feel great in the morning, and I can easily rub off the flaky bits with a towel.

  • Bonus. To fool myself into thinking I’ve just eaten a bar of chocolate without the actual calories. Haha.

I hope you can try it out soon! The In Her Element Nourishing Cocoa Balm is already available for P185 at inherelement.ph. It will roll out soon in BeautyMNL and Beauty Bar stores. ^_^ Let me know what you think, as always.
