Review and Swatches: The Happy Skin Lip Mallow Plush Matte Lip Tint

I’ve been following Happy Skin since the very beginning. You can say what you want about the brand, but they’re a leader when it comes to the Filipino beauty scene! They’re always releasing new formulas and on top of that, they also constantly improve upon what they’ve done before. I appreciate that level of commitment to making their customers happy.

That said, Happy Skin recently came out with the Lip Mallow Plush Matte Lip Tint (P549). It comes in five shades that are all wearable and flattering on Filipino skin (of course), and for me, these tints are a fast fave. Here’s why!

First thing, it’s even and nearly opaque on the lips in just one layer. No more of that bare top lip situation that often happens with tints! It has a mostly watery consistency, with a bit of that fluffy mousse feel. I love that it doesn’t feel powdery on the lips as mousse lip products tend to have. Did I say that it’s not drying at all? I often skip lip balm when I wear it. And yet, it feels almost like nothing on lips.

The Plush Matte Lip Tint is also completely rub-proof and mask-proof. It doesn’t transfer once it sets! You don’t have to worry about your lip color getting on your mask or smearing all over.

Below, on the left, is a first impressions video I did on Tiktok so you can see how the color applies. On the right is a look I did wearing the shade Drip.

The catch is that it will start to fade once you eat something or drink a lot. The rub-proof “seal” formed by the formula is broken once it comes in contact with liquid or oil. There will be an even light stain left once the top layer of color is gone so you won’t be left hanging, but you will need to retouch after eating.

Otherwise, it’s a fantastic product that I reach for every day. It’s such an easy formula and perfect for days at the gym or just running some errands. I love all the shades too! Have you tried the Plush Matte Lip Tint? How was it?
