Review + Swatches: The Generation Happy Skin 2023 Relaunch

Happy Skin has just reintroduced their Generation Happy Skin line and if you like a fresh, blooming look using just a few quick products, then this is worth a gander. I have a few things from the new collection, so let’s go ahead and take a look.

New to Generation Happy Skin is the Stay Fresh Blurring Skin Tint (P549). It comes in eight shades, which is a departure from Happy Skin’s usual sparse shade selection especially when it comes to tinted face bases. They do have deeper shades now which is good news for morenas out there, although I do wish there were less lighter ones for variation. As for me, my skin looks great with the Medium shade.

This is a watery, lightweight, moisturizing tint that has light coverage, perfect for days when I just want fresh skin. I can’t say it was particularly blurring, but it covers light blemishes but of course I still need concealer for deeper ones. These days, I’ve been experimenting with skipping powder and instead setting my wet bases with setting spray, and the Blurring Skin Tint works perfectly with this technique! It wore well after six hours of me being out and about on errands. Will definitely be using this out again.

A caveat, however: the nozzle of this tube needs to be improved. It has a stopper on the nozzle but be careful NOT to open this while it is facing to the ground. Otherwise, the super runny product will just gush right out. It’s messy every time I open it so I have to clean it with tissue. FYI. I hope Happy Skin puts this in a pump!

Another new product is the Perfect Brows Brow Grip (P399). This comes in three shades, and I got the clear one. It’s a great product for brow lamination as it definitely grips the hairs easily and sets them in place for hours. I love that it has a small, bent wand and the texture of the product itself isn’t goopy so it doesn’t look like I glued my brows down. This one is a keeper! I love using this on top of my usual brow powder or pencil to make sure the color really stays put.

Generation Happy Skin is particularly popular for their tints and stains, and it’s no surprise that Happy Skin released new shades for everyone to enjoy. There are two new colors each for their best-selling Kiss & Bloom Water Lip & Cheek Tint (P299), Generation Happy Skin Kiss & Bloom Glossy Tint (P299), and Generation Happy Skin Kiss & Bloom Velvet Lip & Cheek Stain (P299).

These tints are easy and functional, and I love that price. For me, the Water Tint is the one that stains the most - it really sticks, both on lips AND cheeks! I also enjoy the Glossy Tint because this also stains heavily and it’s more moisturizing than the Water Tint. The Velvet Stain I find a bit drying, so I don’t reach out for it as much.

Out of the three, I love the Water Tint in Quirky the most! It’s a strawberry pinky red that makes me look fresh and alive; this particular color can take years off a face, IMHO. I’m keeping this one in my gym and/or travel bag.

And that’s it! Overall a good collection to check out if you want simple and easy products that don’t take a lot of head space and literal space in your life. Let me know what you think you’ll be trying out!
