K-Beauty brand Dear Klair’s is now in the PH - here’s what to try

When I first started to get serious with my skincare routine, one of the brands that would constantly pop up in my searches is Dear Klair’s. This Korean brand’s approach to skincare is “simple, but enough” and they encourage a gentle skincare routine that’s fuss-free yet effective. It seemed the complete opposite of the popular Korean 10-step process.

I admit it didn’t really appeal to me back then because, as an oily skinned gal with acne-prone skin, I thought that “harsher is better” for products to have an effect on my skin. Now that I’m a little wiser, I’m finally giving Dear Klair’s simple skincare philosophy a second look.

The brand formally launched in the Philippines last December, and for their launch event, they brought in Eunice Cho, a presenter on Wishtrend TV. Wishtrend is under Wishcompany, which owns Dear Klair’s. Eunice shared an easy way to achieve a holiday glow using only five products. Koreans are very heavy on skin prep, and so Eunice incorporated four basic skincare steps.

She started by exfoliating with the Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish (P1,200) to remove dead skin cells and blackheads. After rinsing, she used a patting motion to apply the Supple Preparation Facial Toner (P1,150) to balance the skin’s pH level and hydrate it. Then, she applied the Supple Preparation All Over Lotion (P1,390) as moisturizer. She gave us a tip and said that it also works great as a body lotion! With her skin prepped, she then put on the Soft Airy UV Essence (P1,050) for sun protection. Finally, instead of applying a full-on face base, Eunice recommends just applying concealer to areas where you need it, so your skin takes center stage. She used the Creamy & Natural Fit Concealer (P730) to cover up blemishes and dark circles.

I appreciated how fuss-free Eunice’s holiday glow routine was, and it made me rethink my own personal routine. After her demonstration, I decided to stop using the Some By Mi toner that I tested previously because I was beginning to feel concerned about overexfoliation. So I switched to the Supple Preparation Facial Toner, one of the brand’s best-selling products and a fave for both dry and oily skin types. I’ve only been using this for a week, and I’m liking how it hydrates and soothes my skin! I especially appreciated the soothing effect after testing out a high percentage AHA product for shits and giggles.

When it comes to makeup removal, I’m a staunch believer in double cleansing so I was excited to try the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil (P1,200). This is supposed to help control oil while still maintaining healthy moisture levels with ingredients like black sesame oil and black currant oil. I found this to be very effective in removing even long-wearing products such as the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation and my HG Heroine Make Waterproof Mascara. However, it leaves an oily film so a second cleanser is really a must.

One of the products that I’ve been eyeing for a while is their Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop (P1,200). This is supposed to be a vitamin C product that even those with sensitive skin can use. I haven’t been able to test it out long enough to see results on my PIH, but I do like that it’s a vitamin C serum I don’t need to store in the fridge!

I was also able to get a couple of the Rich Moist Soothing Tencel Sheet Masks (P160 each). The mask essence contains five types of ceramides to help soothe and moisturize the skin. The sheet mask material is made from 100% cotton and tencel sheet, which is supposed to help it adhere well to the skin for better essence absorption.

So far, I’ve been really happy with the products that I’ve been able to try from Dear Klair’s! I can see why this brand has such loyal fans, and I’m looking forward to trying the makeup next. Have you tried any products from Dear Klair’s? Which one is your fave? Let’s discuss in the comment section below.
