See the swatches: Chu Chu Beauty’s sparkly Birthday Collection

Filipino brand Chu Chu Beauty launched a super sparkly collection just in time for their birthday, and I’m here to share some swatches! Chu Chu in my opinion is an underrated brand with lots to offer to makeup beginners as well as those who just want to add a little bit of magic to a basic makeup routine.

The Birthday Collection features two new formulas: the Glitter Shimmer Duo and Lip Syrup. Let’s start with Lip Syrup (P199). It’s designed to be a hydrating and softening lip formula that offers plenty of shine without the stickiness. It definitely delivers in that department! There is a sweet scent for fans of candy scents in cosmetics, and some pretty shimmer suspended in the gloss. The shimmer (especially the big star ones) don’t really show up when worn; they’re mostly for the aesthetic of it.

There are six variants of Lip Syrup. I knew they were sheer coming in, just judging from the packaging, but they really are quite sheer so much so that there isn’t any visible difference I can see between the shades on the swatches on my arm or lips. IMHO, you can get any one and you won’t be missing out! I wish there was more color to the Lip Syrups, so I do hope the brand considers that next time.

The Lip Syrup is an excellent topper on an existing lip color if you want a bit of moisture and lots of shine as a finishing touch. Otherwise, by itself, it’s a clear lip oil type of product.

The Glitter Shimmer Duo (P299) is made for the eyeshadow magpie. THIS. IS. SO. SHINY! It consists of a frosty powder/cream hybrid on the left pan, and chunky glitters in a gel base on the right pan. You can use this by itself for that 90s frost and/or early aughts glitter vibe, which I enjoy myself! Or, you can use it on top of any eyeshadow confection to create a halo effect and bring some drama to an otherwise flat look.

There are three shades available:

  • Dazzling Sunrise - this has a salmon gold cream and red and pink glitter

  • Prismatic Rose - pink frost cream and pink / green duochrome glitter

  • Galactic Champagne - champagne frost cream / lavender, peach, and pink glitter

As with any glitter or foil eyeshadow, it’s best to use an eyeshadow primer to hold it all down, and even better with some form of powder color underneath as well, if you’re concerned about staying power.

I would recommend the Glitter Shimmer Duos if you’re looking to amp up your eyeshadow game with some flashy glitter. Think of them as accessories - technically not necessary, but they just complete any look!

You can find these at Chu Chu Beauty on Shopee.
