The best 199 pesos you’ll spend on eye makeup: The Boss Squad Eyeshadow Palette

If you’ve been playing with eyeshadows recently and are looking to add more palettes in your kit, then boy do I have a find for you! I purchased the Squad Cosmetics Boss Squad Eyeshadow Palette (P199 in Shopee) on a whim last March. I honestly did not expect much from it given the price tag, but it turned out to be one of those products wherein the quality exceeds its cost. Don’t get me wrong ha, this is no Natasha Denona or Pat McGrath (my two fave eyeshadow brands!). However if you don’t like splurging on eye makeup (yet, you might still change your mind haha) then this is quite good for 199 pesos.

The palette contains nine shades in a sizable amount, which would be about 1.9 grams each at a total of 17 grams. The container itself is cheap plastic hence my low expectations in the beginning but the shades inside are quite beautiful AND super pigmented. I mean, look at this:

Nice right? You get five matte shades, one shimmer, and three metallic foil colors. The texture of the metallic foil shades are super rich and creamy; it feels like cream eyeshadow to the touch (dents like it too so be careful) but applies in an easy to blend powdery finish. In the swatches I did above, I just swiped once. Even the mattes are pigmented and quite blendable.

The bronze makes for a great single-shade eye look

+ SOME RUST ON THE OUTER THIRD

I just used my finger to apply everything; it blended so nicely.

The caveat is that these can have a bit of a powdery kick up, so when you’re applying the colors to your eyes make sure to tap the brush first. The foil colors can also end up with a thick texture that highlights all your eye lines; my tip is to use eyeshadow primer to fill in those lines first. As with all eyeshadows, using primer helps to even out the texture of the colors as well as extend their staying power.

Overall, I’m happy with this palette and want to try the other shades available. Squad Cosmetics is a local brand made in China. If you’re interested in their other products, check out the review Angeli made last February! Everything is just under P230.

Let me know if you’ve tried Squad makeup and what you thought of it!
