Rave: Cure Natural Aqua Gel

One of the best things that you can do for your skin is to get a bottle of Cure Natural Aqua Gel (P1,500 at Beauty Bar). I have yet to meet a person who didn't fall on her toes (figuratively) to buy this after a couple of tries! This is actually a cult favorite product in Japan, changing the way women exfoliate their skin for many years now. I'm happy to announce that it's finally here in the Philippines!

Okay let's backtrack a little bit. I tried Cure about two or three years ago, when a friend gave me a sample. I felt it broke me out (my skin was extremely reactive then) so it dropped from my radar. Fast forward to today. I got a bottle of this early this year and held off using it for a month. When I felt that my skin could take a breakout, I finally tried it and holy cranberry - it is amazing! I didn't get any pimples too.

But wait, what does Cure do exactly? It's a gommage exfoliator. It's a gel product that hardens into soft, paper-like bits as it dries. These bits, when massaged onto the skin, exfoliate gently and thoroughly. I cannot emphasize enough how thoroughly this gets rid of dead skin and even mild blackheads! My skin feels squeaky clean after I rinse it off. Think of a newly washed plate, and how the surface is so clean that your fingers get some resistance when you drag it. That's what a newly "Cured" face feels like.

Since I started using Cure twice a week, the tiny bumps around my eyes, nose, and chin have significantly lessened. Did you notice the closeup pictures I've been posting lately? My skin looks fairly smooth right? That's because of Cure. It's the only new skincare product I'm using regularly these past few weeks.

That's not to say that I have zero bumps ha. I still have a few of them in my problem areas but they're just much less obvious now.

Cure can also be used on any body part, such as elbows, cuticles, knees, and heels. It's not just a product exclusively for us girls too - even guys love it! The packaging is unisex so manly men need not worry. ;)

And now, for the (not-so) downside. I've noticed that my skin feels oilier than usual since I started using Cure. Well, it's partly the fault of the hot weather but Cure is also responsible for it. Since my pores are clearer, more oil leaks out. It can get annoying when I'm wearing makeup (it shortens the lifespan of the face base)) but remember, oil is a good thing. It lubricates our skin and keeps the moisture barrier intact. I'm oilier but my skin feels nicer and younger!

How to use it? Apply a generous amount on your dry, newly washed face. Massage it slowly and evenly, focusing on your nose, chin, or anywhere that feels blocked up or dry. You'll feel the exfoliating flakes after half a minute so just continue rubbing for another minute. Rinse thoroughly. You can apply toner and moisturizer afterwards, but I won't recommend it! Toner is already redundant. I think it's best to let your natural oil moisturize your face. You'll look glowing the morning after.

Note, if you have raw or open acne, exfoliation may irritate it more. Just wait for the pimples to dry before using Cure.

So there you go! I highly recommend Cure Natural Aqua Gel to anyone. Anyone. It's a great product! I would definitely buy another bottle when I run out. According to the label, this can last up to four months (used twice a week) but I reckon I can extend it for another month or so.

Lemme know what you think. ;)
