Drugstore Darling: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I have a friend who hates wearing lipstick. She said that the stuff migrates everywhere on her face! To get some color on her lips, she just rubs them with tissue to get the blood going. I'm thinking that hurts if she has dry lips, plus it can lead to premature lines in the area. So I told her, try the Revlon stains! She was unconvinced. Until a few days ago.

Beauty problem - solved! The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (P575) is made for women who don't like the waxy feel of lipsticks or simply do not like retouching too often during the day. It comes in twelve on-trend and highly pigmented shades to suit your fancy.

I know you gals have seen the rave reviews, so I'll just make a quick run of it!

What I love about the product

  • These are super pigmented stains that penetrate deep within the lips, thus giving them color that goes strong for six hours. There is some fading along the inner part if you eat, but it's not too obvious for me.
  • Moisturizes lips without feeling too thick. It does dry up within three hours though, so keep a lip balm on hand if you have dry lips.
  • Has a subtle peppermint smell. Feels a bit minty too but no sting. I love the fresh feeling!
  • A little goes a long way to stain the lips.
  • Cute crayola-shaped product makes it fun to whip out in public. You get precise application, too.

Romantic is an orangey red that may look odd when you first swipe it. Wait for the color to develop into a deeper, more flattering red! This one leaves a beautiful stain. Best for darker coloring.

Rendevous is a pretty orange that's highly pigmented. Really nice on medium yellow tones!

Sweetheart is my favorite out of the bunch. It's a hot pink that should suit most tones!

Precious is a nude beige shade with a frosty finish (best for light to medium skin). It can be opaque but you will need to pile on the product. Best way to wear it is to apply a nude lipstick on top to get a creamy, lustrous, and opaque effect!

What I don't like about the product

  • Can be a chore to remove. They're so pigmented, you might need a proper lip makeup remover to take it off. Or just use toothbrush scrub it off gently.
  • For P575, you get only 2.7 grams of products. Most lipsticks are at 3.5 grams. I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker though as you don't need that much to get a strog color going.

Neutral

  • As with all stains, this catches on flaky parts of the lips. Don't forget to exfoliate before using it!

Recommendations

Do you love pigmented lip colors but hate how high-maintenance they are? Do you hate waxy lip products? If yes to both questions, then the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is perfect for you. I highly recommend Sweetheart as it is an eye-catching pink that should suit all skin tones. Be loud and proud! ;)

Some girls asked me how this compares to the Clinique Chubby Stick. It looks more or less the same, but Revlon is more pigmented and has a bit more product than the the CCS. Cheaper too, of course. CCS is designed to be a tinted lip balm, not a stain so I guess there's not much to compare between them except the packaging.

Verdict

Love it! I always get compliments whenever I wear Sweetheart. Definitely a must-try color! I also love Precious, especially under a nude lipstick. It's frosty by itself but when topped with a matte/satin nude, it looks lustrous and really makes the top layer pop. Example here, I wore an Etude House lipstick with Precious:

Gorgeous right? :) So, what do you think of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain? Have you tried it, and if so did you like it?

This really works for me. :) My lips aren't dried at all and stays soft the whole day with this. So easy to reapply too! :)

Looking out for Romantic after scoring Sweetheart, hehe. :)

You look hot in the first photo, what shade were you wearing? And yes, it resembles the chubby stick only cheaper. What convinced me to buy the revlon is when you said it's more pigmented oh and did i say cheap too (again), hehe.

This resembles Clinique Chubby Stick, although I have to admit that this is more affordable. Like any other girl, I have a soft spot for lipsticks and I love super pigmented colors, buti na lang they are in right now so it doesn't feel awkward whenever I wear them. Are there only four colors? I went to the dept store two weeks ago and saw these, the saleslady said they have more colors, one actually resembles the pink nouveau when I tried it on my lips, it looks so pretty. And like you Ms. Liz, I also like Sweetheart pero Precious kasi looks pretty too and very versatile too, I think I can use it to experiment with my other lipsticks!

PS. I love your nails! <3

I'm getting Romantic, Sweetheart, Smitten, Adore! Lovely colors! I've read reviews that these are more moisturizing than Tarte Lipluster Tints and are more staining on the lips and therefore doing what they're supposed plus more pigmented than Clinique Chubby Sticks not to mention that these babies are A LOT cheaper!

I love these. I wanna get one! :) But when I tried them, I felt weird looking at myself.. Do they have anything apricot-ish Ms. Liz? not too orange, not too pink and not too salmon. just the right apricot-ish. I like the sweetheart but I'm not used to seeing myself in that kind of loud color! Tapos hirap pa tanggalin!

Sweetheart caught my heart! :) wah the price is holding me back. But it's oh so tempting!

I'm in love with this! After I saw your initial thoughts, I had to have it. I bought the shade Adore, and I love the brick red color on my lips! I also love the peppermint scent that it has (since I'm a sucker for subtly scented lip products). And I also love how I could wear this to school and not be accused of wearing too much makeup :)

September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGett

I'd buy this if it weren't too expensive for less than 3g of product. Lip butters from Bare Naturals and V&M are way more affordable and are pigmented too. Not to mention balms made with natural oils moisturize my lips better. They don't come in a wide range of colors, though, but that's fine.

Ah.. Just in time..i'll ne getting these babies over the weerkend..:)

September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLian

I tried the shade Lovesick last Saturday, OH WOW. It is the perfect pink for morenas (NC43-ish)!
And it's so pigmented and it lasts all night long like I had it from 9pm until I woke up at 2pm the next day and I only applied it once(which was at 9 straight from the Revlon counter)!!! AND IT NEVER TURNED ORANGE!!!! :D!!
But..there's a but..it's not that moisturizing..it's not drying either but I wouldn't wear it when I have colds as it's not moisturizing enough if you have dry lips.

For the price, Im not sure if I can easily shell out 575 on something that I might not be using everyday (unlike a mascara which I can't leave the house without it on) but it's definitely a product that will not disappoint!

Thanks for letting us know about these babies Liz!!

So nice!! Putting Rendezvous on my lippie wishlist now <3

September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterChai

I'm glad these finally reached the Philippines :) When you posted about it on Instagram I immediately went out to pick one up. I chose the shade Crush. I use it everyday. I love that it's minty and moisturizing, but I expected the stain to last longer. It disappears completely after a few hours for me, so that's something I'm a little disappointed about. But I still love the product :)

September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCarmi

No Kidding! I just bought mine too!!! Romantic Romantique - It's long wearing!!!
Worth every penny.. planning to buy some more. Thinking of the lippie similar to color Tea Rose by NYX.
Super love how that colors look on me. Pink suits you the best (well thats what I think of course!) :D
Are you planning to collect them? :D

I got Smitten after reading your post (got it for free! used my SMAC points. hihi). Smitten is a light berry shade, and yes, pigmentation is love! I ate lots of hipon and masebong Spam for dinner and I still got a pretty stain after that. I brushed my teeth before I slept and when I woke up, my mom said "Ang aga-aga nakalipstick ka kaagad!" LOL. That was how pigmented these are! Love it so much I got Honey the next day! I'm morena and Honey is a good MLBB. Perfect for me because I'm anemic and my lips are forever pale. Now I got color! LOVE.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains <3 I would definitely try Lovesick, Darling, Honey, Sweetheart and Cherish. Wow! 5 shades for these balm stains :)) I was already searching for this balm stains two months ago because a friend of mine had them sold in her online shop. I was very sad because I didn;t have a chance to purchase one so hopefully this time, I can have those 5 shades :P

I just hope all the other shades are available in the market. :) Just a bit pricey for a balm stain but that;s okay! I hope that they are very moisturizing as well *fingers crossed. Balm stains, here I come! :)

September 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMau

I have Sweetheart, Darling and Cherish! Love! :) Sweetheart stayed in my lips from 7am to 4pm with multiple eating and drinking in between :P

September 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterChel

Wow! Another great post! I have one in Adore, and I can say it suits my morena skin tone. I would love to try Sweetheart, too, especially I'm quite a noob when it comes to trying out bold colors. :P I would say that I like Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable than CCS because of the pigmentation. It's a great deal, worth the money. :)

September 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVal Basinillo

I have yet to try this. Even though beauty blogs and youtube raved about this balm stains for some time now, I still didn't buy some. Now, after reading your review, I'm about to cave...LOL.

Gaah! I'll try this in the next pay day, will definitely let you know what I think about it. ^_^

September 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHollie

I remember you and Ms. Karrotz talking about this on Live Love LoLz hahaha That was such a funny episode. Hope you get the chance to do another guesting there :)

Anyway, I immediately bought me one of these when I passed by a Revlon counter and remembered that you mentioned them. I've been wanting to try Clinique's Chubby Stick, but was hesitant to get one because of the price. I got Revlon's balm stain in Rendezvouz and I'm loving how orange it is! I sometimes wear it as a base for my coral-orange lipstick. I'm restraining myself from getting different shades because I still have five of Revlon's Lip Butters haha

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDenise

I love this product! I have it in Honey and for me it's the perfect shade for everyday use. My lips doesn't dry out.

I use this everyday especially if I'm not wearing makeup. This just adds the right amount of color to my face. :)

You look so adorable in your last pic, looks like you're having a ton of fun! And can I just ask what yellow polish you've got on? It's so vibrant :) Interested in Rendezvous and Precious, obsessed to find the perfect nude and orange lippies. And will try your technique of layering a stain with a lipstick :D

Sorry I can't help myself, but WOW! "Sweetheart" looks AMAZING on you!!!

I ALMOST bought "Sweetheart" because of the pretty pink shade. It looks good on me, but I just don't know when or where to wear it because I'm a bit too pale for its super pigmented color. A good excuse would be a party, but I barely go to one. So I had to drop the idea of purchasing it with a heavy heart. But it didn't stop me from buying the shade "Honey". Out of all the shades I've tried, "Honey" looks the most natural on me, and it gets even prettier the longer I have it on!

It's an everyday shade for me, so I always carry it with me when I go out. When all my other lipsticks fail to do me (and my outfit) justice, my "Honey" tube never fails me. And I can use it anywhere too! I can wear it at school, and it wouldn't look like I wear makeup at all! I just love it. <3

It's true that it dries up after a while, leaving the stain. And yeah, the long-staying stain is bothering me a bit. I read somewhere that it's usually the staining lip products that cause lips to darken if not removed properly on lips, so removing this product completely is a bit of a hassle. But nothing a lip balm or a petroleum jelly couldn't do, right? So that didn't stop me from loving this balm stain. :)
