Winners of the Bb. Pilipinas 2012

If I had television, I would have watched the Bb. Pilipinas Coronation last night! As it were I just had to get my news from my Twitter feed (please do follow me btw!). Many of them were catty comments on the evening gowns and the Question and Answer portion. Haha. I guess that's part and parcel of the festivities. 

May I present the Bb. Pilipinas court!

The Bb. Pilipinas 2012 queens are: Janine Tugonon as Miss Universe Philippines, Nicole Schmitz as Bb. Pilipinas- International 2012, Katrina Dimaranan as Bb. Pilipinas - Tourism 2012, Elaine Kay Moll as 1st Runner-Up, Annalie Forbes as 2nd Runner-Up

Janine Tugonon is a 22-year old pharmacy graduate from the University of Sto. Tomas. From her profile, you can see that she's a veteran in joining beauty contests, unlike Shamcey Supsup from last year. 

At the Question and Answer portion, she was asked "Many women nowadays forego a happy family life for a successful career. How do you feel about this?"

Janine said, "Well, I believe that women have the right to choose between what they want, but for me, you'll have to go for what God has called you to do, whatever it is between the two. You must do what your purpose is in this world. Just have a child-like faith and a mature obedience and everything will go smooth."

Well. Janine is beautiful, poised, elegant - all that! - but I'm not happy with her answer. It's a safe, non-answer that skirts the issue. How does one know what one's purpose is in this world? God certainly won't say it in a Facebook message. :) A woman has to decide and pursue the things that will make her happy and fulfilled. She must not leave it all to her religion to decide for her.
