A Spoonful of Sugar

Some people know what they love from the beginning. Some find it sooner, but when they do it's like there was never anything before it.

I met Patti Dizon a few weeks ago. Her parents are a lawyer and a doctor, and she was well on her way studying medicine when she quit. Why? She knew that she wouldn't be happy pursuing the profession. While she had some downtime she found out how much she loved baking for her friends and family. They loved her creations, and this encouraged to start her own business: A Spoonful of Sugar.

With only a P1,000 capital, she was able to build a cupcake business that now supplies to Moonleaf Tea Shop and various other cafes. In a month or so, she will announce another major coffee retail chain on her roster of distributors. She's only 24 and her business is just 10 months old but she's on her way to making it big!

Patti's best seller is the Red Velveteen, but my personal favorite is the Salted Caramel de Leche. Yeah I'm overly fond of sweet-salty treats. :P

You can pre-order anything from the menu, and I do like that she offers an assorted box or six or 12 pieces of different flavors. Really handy as a gift or for potluck parties! She also makes personalized cupcakes for big celebrations like weddings, debuts, and media events.

So there, next time you're looking for cupcakes to give to someone you love or to celebrate with, do check out A Spoonful of Sugar. There is an inspiring young woman behind those baked goodies, which I think makes them all the more sweeter. :)

I truly admire those people who follow their dreams.
As stated in a movie entitled 3 idiots, "Pursue excellence, and success will follow." >:)

I've had the Lemon Surprise and Velveteen. I love buttercream frosting, so I liked the lemon cupcake better. Funny, I only know these as "the cupcakes at Moon Leaf;" never found out the brand's name until your post! :p

I am so drooling at this post! The price is quite reasonable, actually.

Or, I could go to Moonleaf rin and try.

Oh wow! I am so inspired! I've always wanted to put up a cupcake/baked goods home business, but all I've had so far are excuses--number one being "I don't have money for capital." And here we have a success story that started with P1,000 and passion! Amazing! God bless you, Patti. :) Thanks for sharing, Liz!

Wow! Must suggest this to my mom! We have celebrations coming up this November, and I just have to tell her about this! Red Velveteen is already making me drool! hehe

Thank you for this Ms. Liz! Now I have an idea what else I can give my mom for her birthday! :D
