Exclusive first look: the new Pond's White Beauty Naturals
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:09AM There's a keen demand among women nowadays for more "natural" skincare solutions. But what do we mean when we say "natural"? Usually, a product is considered such if its ingredients are from natural and unrefined sources. For example, the ingredient list must mainly consist of water, fruit and plant extract, oils, combined with naturally occurring preservatives, humectants, surfactants, and emulsifiers (link). Natural skincareproducts do not contain synthetic chemicals.

That said, Pond's new line called White Beauty Naturals does not claim to be natural. But it does feature one of nature's beautifying agents: the Camellia Leaf. Why that particular plant? Dr. Sona Pushker, Head of Research at the Pond’s Institute says, “...The Camellia leaf extract is known to reduce the formation of melanin deep within your skin, and the proven skin lightening technology of the Pond’s White Beauty range inhibits melanin being released to the skin’s surface, reducing skin darkening and imperfections.”

Nature’s most potent skin-lightening secret! With Camellia Leaf Extract, Pond’s White Beauty Naturals works double time – it reduces the formation of melanin at a cellular level and inhibits melanin from being released to the skin’s surface, thus effectively fighting skin darkening, diminishing imperfections and delivering beautiful, pinkish-white skin.

Okay! Basically, the new line is a new formulation (upgrade?) of Pond's existing White Beauty products. What sets it apart is the inclusion of camellia sinensis, which is actually known as the "tea plant", because green tea is traditionally made from its leaves! I've already written about the benefits of green tea, among which are anti-aging and UV protection.
All that aside though, don't get confused - the Pond's White Beauty Naturals line is not organic or truly natural. It is not considerably healthier or more harmful to your skin than the existing Pond's products. But it does have an interesting ingredient and it seems to be exclusive to the Philippines at the moment, so I do believe that's worth looking into! The line has what Pond's claims to be its lightest moisturizer yet - the Day Cream - and a light scrub called the Gentle Exfoliating Foam.

I'm excited to try this line, i hope it will be released soon.
Oh, this looks promising! I think it's perfect for the hot season right now. The sun's rays are so harsh nowadays so I guess these products would be good after working in such a hot day. I guess this is good at preventing the appearance of freckles and dark spots? I can't wait for your review of these products since I'm willing to try other day cream formulas! I don't really like the new Nivea....
awww...looks promising, however I have a love-hate relationship with ponds eh hahaha :)
Recently people have been seeing the benefits of going all organic and natural. Chemical sure have been causing serious damage to our cells and our health, and this step of Ponds can really bring many women to the healthier side. Plus I really love the packaging, less prints and less gloss on the box is a greener way to go!
camellia sinensis (green and white tea) is a common ingredient in various skin lightening products (ranging from serums and creams) which advocates orgainic ingredients. I'm really excited to try Pond's line since I've tried Marie Veronique Oraganics skin whitening serum (that contains camellia sinensis) before and it did wonders to my skin. However the only gripe is that Marie Veronique is not locally available. I'm really looking forward to your review regarding this line. Take care!
oooh, the packaging is SO enticing! over the years, i've been desperately trying to love ponds because several friends have had unbelievably good results with their products (think oily, pimply teen to radiant woman). thing is, no matter what variant i'd try, i'd still break out horribly. in fact, my face still has some of the pimples from when i tried the pure white variant several weeks back. :( that said, i'll wait for a review from you liz. maybe then i'll give it a shot. ever since i became addicted to reading your blog, i've been paying more attention to my skin as opposed to the makeup i put on it. =D
I love how pond's continue to flourish over the years, and this new line just look so promising. Unfortunately, I break out with Pond's. But then again, I'm pretty sure the ladies who are "hiyang" with Pond's will find Pond's White Beauty Naturals a delight. =)
wow a new line from ponds :) Can't wait to try it. Currently using ponds spotless white and its made my acne scars lighter :)
Cute Packaging they've got! I don't use Pond's products often. I usually break-out when I use them. Only a few Pond's products are "hiyang" on my skin: Pond's Black carbon facial wash & their Pinkish White and Spotless White creams. It's an on-and-off thing between me and Pond's but I would surely try these products to know if they have that "hiyang" factor on me too.
im still in love with their facial washes and this is something i would try. the packaging looks so fresh! i like!
wanna try it also.. :)
when im in college .. im not hiyang with ponds product but
2months ago when i bought a book in national bookstore may free na ponds..
since i run out of my moisturizer i try to used it again.. and thanks God no breakout..
so now i used ponds product na..
Oh~! Interesting. I've been looking for a moisturizer lately too. I'm gonna try this out. What I like about ponds products is that they have the little sachet types so you can freely try out products without spending so much!
Saw these na in Trinoma Landmark today :D
Too bad, I end up having breakouts whenever I use their products. Ohh except for one! Their detox cream the one in yellow-gold packaging. It's great using around your neckline area, it'll give you a smoother and fairer complexion and will give off that supple look.
hello.. Pwede ba to sa acne prone skin? Kasi.. ang dami kong scars and tiny zits on my face.. ask ko lang if maganda ba yung moisturizer.. Tatakot kasi akong gumamit baka magkapimples ako lalo e. Hayy..
Hi Yang! I think best if you use the sample/ travel size first to see if hiyang ka. :) But if your skin problems really bother you, best if you go to a dermatologist instead!
I am literally on my way to Rustan's to check Laura Mercier when I came across this entry and now I'm confused. Okay, I've used pond's for a significant period of my life but when I tried a different facial wash (some 4 years ago) I saw instant results; smoother and clearer skin in just weeks, something Pond's promised but never really delivered as much as I expected.
Now, I'm in search for the best moisturizer. I have to admit that I'm guilty shifting from one brand to another over the past year, prolly the reason why my skin has become less smooth and clear, talk 'bout karma! Before I read this post, I was really determined to splurge on expensive brands just so I'll find what I'm looking for but I felt hesitant when I read that using this new product may/will give a natural pinkish glow and everybody wants that. But I feel really uncertain if I should try Pond's again. Based on my experience (not generalizing), the expensive brands usually deliver and the less expensive ones tend to take so much time before I see a spark of change.
Please help!
Hi Witty01! In the end it really depends on what's "hiyang" on your skin. :) Expensive brands tend to work faster because they are more concentrated - hence the price tag. But if you're on a budget, there are a lot of good drugstore alternatives like Pond's.
If you can afford to go the luxury skincare route, then by all means, do! Personally I love Clinique (not exactly a luxury brand but it is expensive here). So it really really depends on how much you're willing to shell out for beauty.
hi pretty liz.. pwede po ba ito sa mga preggy^_^
hi rhain! i'm afraid i don't know. :( best to consult with your doctor!
im afraid to try this out kahit natetempt ako bumili =(
