Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Cream

Haven't you always wondered how orchids can live so long while looking as fresh as the day they first bloomed? Guerlain did. They gathered 30,000 species of orchids to discover their secrets until they found "the one". It's called the Vanda Coerulea, a blue orchid found in China that could live more than 80 years in extreme weather conditions. After ten years of research in three different parts of the world, Guerlain has finally managed to distill the molecular extract of Vanda Coerulea with two other orchids into the Orchidée Impériale Cream.

The Orchidée Impériale is Guerlain's flagship anti-aging product which they released just last year. It promises to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and restore the skin's strength and luminosity. Now, I put this to the test for more than two weeks, so I can confidently say this: it's awesome. If you can afford it, go run out and get it. This is the best moisturizer I've tried to date although I will admit that I didn't like it at first.

We were off to a rocky start. I used a pea-sized amount in the beginning but my face ended up feeling so heavy and greasy! I'd wake up with an icky face - no breakouts, thank goodness - but it was so oily, like the cream didn't get absorbed on my skin. My skin looked luminous though.

Eventually, I found the right way to use the Guerlain Orchidée Impériale. I drastically reduced the amount I put on my face, and it worked! By "drastically reduced" I mean I use only a small dab, maybe two dabs on the jar if my face is feeling dry. It absorbed within seconds and made my skin look instantly smooth, silky, supple and glowing. Swear! Must be the orchids working.

That's the difference between drugstore and expensive skincare. While drugstore skincare does work, it can take days or weeks for you to see results. You will also need to use more product to get the effect you want. But with brands like Guerlain, it only takes a little product to get instant results (on the texture, feel, and overall look of your skin - of course the wrinkle magic takes some time). The price is, well, up there, but you will really see, touch, smell, and feel the difference.

I use only half of this amount for my whole face

The rich cream spreads easily on skin

I use this cream everyday now. It's so addicting because the texture is so fluffy and the scent! It has a pretty, subtle floral note. I use this mainly at night though, because this doesn't have SPF.

As with all Guerlain products, the beautiful glass jar of the Orchidée Impériale deserves a paragraph of its own. The luxurious cream is housed in a delicate, heavy glass jar with a gold cap. The product comes sealed in gold foil, which reveals another seal with a small tab. I'm definitely keeping this when I run out!

Don't ask me what the price is. It might give you high blood. Lol, just kidding. It's really expensive, but I do believe that if you can afford it, go get it. It's worth every cent considering how little product you would need to use everyday. I reckon that a 50.3g jar will last me a year, maybe more, at the rate I'm going. I just hope that when I'm out, I have moolah to blow on this exceptional product. Time to save!
