Hot Right Now: Trilogy, the OG clean skincare brand from New Zealand, is now in the PH

Clean beauty is all the rage these last few years, but did you know that it’s been around for decades? One of the OG skincare brands that paved the way is Trilogy, all the way from New Zealand! It was founded in 2002, almost twenty years ago, by sisters Catherine de Groot and Sarah Gibbs. They were looking for skincare that can help their sensitive skin and discovered that pure rosehip oil has a lot of benefits when it comes to moisturizing skin, nails, and hair, healing spots and scars, and easing stretch marks. How’s that for a wonder oil?

Celebrities like Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham, and Cara Delevingne love Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil. According to the luxe brand, they sell a bottle of it every 20 seconds! Now we can get our hands on it too since Trilogy is available at Wellness Plus online. They are the official distributor of the brand here in the Philippines so you can be sure to get authentic products from their store.

Let me give you a rundown of what to expect from Trilogy!

Trilogy’s flagship product is of course the Certified Organic Rosehip Oil (P1,500 for 20ml and the Light Blend at P2,200 for 30ml). This oil is actually used across all their product lines so you can expect everything to be nourishing for the skin. There’s a range focused specifically on rosehip oil, which features (among others) the Cream Cleanser (P1,500), Mineral Radiance Mask (P1,900), and Rosapene Night Cream (P2,800).

What I noticed while testing Trilogy products is that they’re formulated to be very gentle on skin, with no superfluous ingredients. They really commit to using ingredients from nature, as close to the source as possible. Make no mistake, that doesn’t mean that they don’t use active ingredients! For the rosehip range they have a special antioxidant blend called Rosapene that feature antioxidants lycopene, from tomato, and phytosterol, from acai. They also have a Vitamin C range and an anti-aging range that uses enzymes such as CoQ10.

Just because they’re clean and natural-focused doesn’t mean that Trilogy is not imaginative. They obviously invest in research and they have really forward-facing formulations! I was quite surprised to find that they have a Vitamin C Polishing Powder (P2,300). I’m into powder facial washes right now and it’s my first time to come across something with Vitamin C. I’m also enjoying their Vitamin C Moisturizing Lotion (P2,500) at night and Vitamin C Energising Mist Toner (P1,500) during the day.

They don’t use perfume - though some are scented with oils - and the cleansers are all low pH which you know is a huge thing for me. Yes, I tested the pH levels! I don’t use any cleanser that’s beyond a pH of 6.99 so as to protect my moisture barrier. Beyond that, I tend to break out. One thing to note about Trilogy cleansers is that they’re not the usual foaming kind. That’s how they remain gentle and pH-balanced.

If you’re looking to age gracefully, they have the Age-Proof Range that features fruit enzymes for brightening and some mild exfoliation. They’ve developed a mix of actives called Glycablend, which is designed to fight glycation, a process wherein healthy collagen fibres to harden and lose their elasticity as we age. Glycablend is supposed to keep skin supple, healthy and radiant. Age-Proof features the CoQ10 Booster Oil (P2,500), Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream (P2,500), and Replenishing Night Cream (P3,000).

For those with sensitive skin, Trilogy has the Sensitive Range with the Very Gentle Cleansing Cream (P2,300), Very Gentle Moisturizing Cream (P2,500), and Very Gentle Eye Cream (P2,300). I’m very intrigued by the Cleansing Cream as it’s like the cold cream of our moms. It’s said to be able to remove eye makeup.

Aside from face care, Trilogy also has a body care line. It smells nice and herby! I tried the Botanical Body Wash (P1,600) and Pure Plant Body Oil (P1,600) last night and loved how my skin felt velvety afterwards. Body oils should really be more of a thing here in the Philippines! They also have an Exfoliating Body Balm (P2,000). It’s my first time to try something like it! It’s a scrub, but with a balm base.

Overall, I’m happy that Trilogy gave my jaded beauty heart something to skip a beat for. The brand is on the premium end, but based on the ingredients list and the luxe packaging, I do think it’s worth the splurge. More so if you’re looking for a truly nourishing line for combi/dry, sensitive, and mature skin. Let me know if you’ve tried anything from Trilogy!
