Spotlight’s Fresh Look And Their New Lush Lip & Cheek Creme

This story is brought to you by Spotlight Cosmetics / Product photography by Perkin Gotohio

In case you missed it: Spotlight, a Filipino brand that debuted on the eve of the pandemic, is going through somewhat of a reawakening. It seems they've been on a quest to find their spot in the sun (get it?), and with the introduction of their new Spotlight Lush Lip & Cheek Crème (Php 425 / 6.5 grams), they might just have hit the mark.

This launch brings in a refreshed visual identity for Spotlight. The brand has shed its earlier black and white packaging for a more refined look, featuring shades of pastel pink, rose gold, and white. This makeover not only elevates the product's appeal but also signals a clear move towards a more premium positioning. It's a clever and aesthetically pleasing shift that suggests Spotlight is not just back in the game but is playing to win.

Indeed, the Spotlight Lush Lip and Cheek Crème stands out as a rare gem, mastering the dual role of a lip and cheek product with ease, a feat not as common as one might think. On the lips, it glides with a pleasingly slippy texture, delivering nearly full coverage in just one pass. It then settles into a lovely satin finish, maintaining its place for 5-6 hours with minimal fading, even post-meal. I’ve worn this while eating a three-course steak meal and it survived after that! It’s because it sets into a flexible layer over the lips so it won’t just fall apart when it comes in contact with food. It’s not a drying formula but if you have extra dry lips, always scrub and them prime with a lip balm beforehand to get best results.

For the cheeks, I recommend applying it indirectly. A simple strategy works wonders: dab a dot or two on the back of your hand, then use a synthetic fluffy brush to blend it before applying to the cheeks. This method yields soft, enduring color that also lasts around 5-6 hours. The real standout features of this product are its staying power and blendability, making it a fantastic choice for those with oily skin who prefer not to bother with frequent touch-ups.

There are four available shades: Sensational (peachy light tan), Blooming (warm salmon pink), Delightful (muted pinky brown), and Blushing (kinda like a muted strawberry red with a brown undertone). I thought, just judging from the tube, that all the shades would look too similar to each other but that’s not the case! You can really see how they differ once worn on the lips. I actually love all the shades! I wore them as a full coverage color in my lip swatches but they’re extra pretty as a sheer, soft lip tint too.

Overall, I highly recommend the Spotlight Lush Lip and Cheek Crème if you're on the hunt for a new, dual-purpose beauty staple. Its easy blendability, impressive longevity, and range of pretty colors make it a standout product. Whether you're aiming for a pop of color on your cheeks or a lasting tint on your lips, this crème delivers on all fronts. It's an excellent pick for those who appreciate the convenience of products that serve more than one purpose, without compromising on quality or performance.
