Review + Lip Swatches: The Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color

If you love the opaque pigmentation and staying power of liquid lipsticks but don't like the drying, hard texture once they set, then you'll enjoy the Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color (P475 at Beauty Bar). This satisfies your creamy matte lip cravings without the flaky feel of many similar products! Granted it is not 100% matte but I personally prefer the dimensional look provided by the slight sheen.

The pigmentation of each color is quite good. Two layers are enough to get the stunning shade - true to the outer packaging - with near opacity. The darker colors I have below tend to look patchy as they're drying, but once they settle down a bit, they look more full-bodied and the streaks sort of disappear. I recommend wearing them on completely dry lips to avoid patchiness and to get the best staying power. They're not drying at all so I can skip lip balm.

Two things I love in particular: these are scentless (YAY) and when dry, don't have that powdery, raspy feel. It actually feels like normal lipstick but just much more snug on the lips so it stays on for about 4-5 hours on me. Sans eating or drinking, of course.

Here are my color notes!

  • Boucle is a medium-toned pink brown. It's a pretty everyday shade for the school or office!
  • Panne is a bright warm red. I know bright red hasn't been a thing for a while, but I think it'll make a comeback this year! I've been wearing a lot of red lately and I do love the change from muted browns.
  • Damask is a fairly unique purple. It looks a bit brighter in the photo, but in person it's darker. This is the patchier of the lot although it's not *too* obvious when it has dried.
  • Tapestry is a deep oxblood red. So dramatic! This started out patchy but the formula has this quality of smoothing itself out as it dries.

Overall, I highly recommend the Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color to girls who prefer a more comfortable liquid lipstick formula while retaining some of its better qualities. ^_^ You can get this exclusively at Beauty Bar stores, with branches here.

Thoughts? How's your liquid lipstick collection coming along?
