Everything You Need to Know About Naturie, Japan’s #1 Toner Essence

You read that right! Japan’s #1 best-selling, multi-awarded Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner (P379 / 500ml) is here in the Philippines. This hydrating skin conditioner has achieved cult status, and no wonder! Its fragrance-free formula is hydrating yet never sticky, and works wonders on all skin types. Plus, it can be used as a toner, essence, or mask for the face and body–basically anywhere your skin needs to be hydrated and relieved from sunburn and other irritations.

Hydration is key

We’ve all heard it before: hydration is key. Just as drinking water is vital to our survival, retaining our skin’s moisture levels is the key to achieving healthy skin. Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner is formulated to hydrate the keratin layer of the skin, which gives balance to the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and lipids. This strengthens the skin barrier, making skin healthier and less susceptible to external irritants.

The star ingredient is Hatomugi, also known as Coix Seed or Job’s Tears. This grain-bearing grass is native to Southeast Asia. It has been regarded as good for beauty and health when eaten since ancient times in Asia. Now backed by scientific studies, it is considered a superfood! It has been discovered that Hatomugi essence contains 12 different kinds of amino acids, components of NMF that naturally occur in our skin. This means that Hatomugi essence naturally supports a healthier skin barrier when applied on the skin.

Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner: first impressions

My first thought when I saw Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner was, whoa that’s a big bottle! I couldn’t believe a 500mL bottle costs only P379, much less than 170mL of my current hydrating essence/lotion (also a Japanese brand). I noticed that the liquid has a slightly opaque milky color, with a consistency thicker than water. It was indeed fragrance-free, and didn’t cause any reactions on my sensitive skin. My combination skin loves how it feels so hydrating without the heaviness of an occlusive moisturizer!

It can be used as a toner or mask when used with cotton pads, but I liked to use it as a hydrating essence after cleanser and before moisturizer. It feels just like water when I pat it on my face, but I could really feel the moisture sink into my skin! It plumps up the skin and lends a healthy sheen to it. I also discovered that it helps relieve itch and skin irritations, and is safe for use even on my kids’ sunburned skin. Even my husband, who has skin asthma, likes using it. He says it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin unlike other moisturizers or lotions.

I didn’t think it was possible to like it more, until I tried using it with a spray bottle. What a game changer! I discovered that it worked well even on top of my makeup when sprayed as a fine mist, so I can enjoy that extra hydration boost whenever needed. It’s also very refreshing, especially on hot days. This is definitely going with me on long haul flights in future!

The verdict: I highly recommend Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner to anyone looking for an effective hydrating toner essence. Get your own 500 mL bottle (trust me, it’s such a bargain!) for only P379 online via Lazada and Shopee.
