Naturals by Watsons Skincare: What to expect from this soothing skincare line

I remember the launch of the Naturals by Watsons line about four years ago. It was at this cute little cafe with lots of greenery inside, and I remember Jared of Watsons explaining how proud they were that they were able to source certified organic ingredients for the line, and on top of that use Post Consumer Recycled Plastic for the packaging. I thought it was a great move for Watsons! I love their Rice Bran Cream Bath because it’s a nice moisturizing body wash that smells soothing.

Recently, Naturals by Watsons introduced a facial care line that features two in-demand ingredients: cica (or centella asiatica) and sunflower. On top of that, expect chlorella vulgaris (or algae) extract and chamomile extract for extra antioxidant firepower. The line is made in Korea to deliver the best of K-Beauty and here’s the thing: each product is under P450! There are five products (of which I have four) that completes a full skincare routine. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect.

The Cica & Sunflower Soothing Cleansing Foam (P289 for 130ml at Watsons) is a basic everyday cleanser that has a mild herby scent. It doesn’t foam too much, but it will leave skin feeling cleansed. I measured the pH and it’s at 10 - it’s high for me, so I won’t recommend it for sensitive skin. But if you don’t mind alkaline cleansers for your skin, then this is a drugstore option worth a look.

The Cica & Sunflower Soothing Toner (P349 for 150ml at Watsons) is a cream-to-water toner. It looks creamy and thick out of the bottle, but turns into a watery hydrating toner once you spread it out. Reminds me of the CosRX toner actually! This is a good mild toner for oily skin, and works well as a second step since it hydrates skin in preparation for the next step. Everything in the line has the same scent.

Next up is the Cica & Sunflower Soothing Serum (P449 for 30ml). This is a gel-type serum that features the same actives as the rest of the line. A serum typically has a larger concentration of active ingredients, so it should deliver an extra boost to the routine. Add this if you’d like to integrate the listed actives in your routine, but if you’re using the toner and moisturizer, I think the serum is not a must.

Last but not least is the Cica & Sunflower Soothing Facial Cream (P329 for 50g). This is a good daily moisturizer that I think oily skin will adore. It has the same main actives, so it’s designed to be soothing and hydrating and can mix well with other skin actives. The price is great in terms of the amount you get plus how nice the packaging is!

Overall, I would recommend the Soothing Toner and Soothing Facial Cream from this line for a simple daily routine. I think the Soothing Serum is a good addition to an existing routine, but when used with the other Cica & Sunflower products, it may be a bit redundant. It depends on what your skin needs really! I think this line has some solid, affordable offerings that addresses a need for stressed skin.

Let me know what you think!
