Best In 2016: The Project Vanity Top 13 Lipstick Finds

We've already lost count of how many lipsticks we've tried this year, but we do remember the ones that are always within easy reach. Here are the thirteen lippies that we enjoyed immensely in 2016! These were released or made available by official local distributors in the PH within the year.

Please do click the links for the detailed reviews and complete lip swatches.

Pink Sugar x Project Vanity These Lips Don't Lie Matte Lip Crayon (P399) / Available in Watsons and SM Beauty

These are, obviously, our top pick because it's everything we want our lipstick to be. These are long-wearing, scentless, come in cute packaging, and feature four colors that ought to never go out of style! We love all shades - well, we literally designed them - but Love At First Swipe (a peachy cocoa) is the crowd fave.

Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar (P1,200) / Available in Laneige stores

Laneige is the brand to watch out for when it comes to beauty innovations. They were among the first to pioneer the cushion compact years ago, and this 2016, they created the wildly popular lip bars. They makes gradient lips so easy, and they look so fun in the tube too.

Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk Chiffon (~P400) / Available in department stores and Etude House stores

Muted lips were all the rage on the western side of the world, but in Korea, bright pops of color reigned supreme. One of our faves is a matte coral red called PK027! It goes on smooth and stains like crazy.

Happy Skin Glam Squad Liquid Matte Lipstick (P699) / Available in department stores, Plains & Prints, Beauty Bar, and HS stores

Happy Skin has been selling out their lip crayons from the day they opened shop, but this year, they finally came up with an amazing liquid lipstick formula. It's the least fussy lipstick we've ever tried; one swipe, and it's smooth and even. They have six beautiful shades now (four from the Glam Squad collection, and two from the Disney collab) and we can't wait to see what they'll whip up with next!

Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lip Liners (P499) / Available in department stores, Plains & Prints, Beauty Bar, and HS stores

These lip liners may have flown under the radar. They are admittedly not as exciting as a new lipstick, after all, but a true lippie nerd knows the power of a good lip liner. We adore the smoothness of these pencils and how well they wear throughout the day!

Burt’s Bees Lipstick (P795) / Available in Beauty Bar, Watons, and SM Beauty

Moisturizing and comes in 14 lovely shades, Burt's Bees first legit lipstick line has become our favorite everyday pick. It's just so comfortable to wear and makes our lips look (and feel) nice! We love Sunset Cruise, Suede Splash, and Lily Lake to bits.

L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick (P400) / Available in department stores

One can only imagine how the L'Oreal color design team's brainstorming sessions would go. "What color do people want this year?" someone would ask. "Brown!" someone would answer.  And so they gave us all the browns! Our favorite is Spiced Cider, a muted, semi-deep winey brown.

Pink Sugar Lip & Cheek Sugartints (P349) / Available in Watsons and SM Beauty

Pink Sugar came out with 10 new Sugartints this year, and women just went crazy. The long-wearing formula, Kylie-ish shades, and P349 price tag are all too much to resist. Queen Bee, Posh Purple, and Crazy In Love are the three shades we pick up the most!

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Mat Lipstick (P1,250) / Available in MUFE stores

MUFE's lipstick technology is top of the line. This year, they came out with a highly pigmented and creamy matte lipstick formula called the Artist Rouge Mat. It's one of the most long-wearing mattes we've ever tried but get this - it doesn't dry out the lips. M102 is our fave color!

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Bare (P1,500) / Available in Rustan's and Bobbi Brown stores

Nude lipstick is tricky to wear, but we've found our perfect match with this new shade from Bobbi. We love its silky finish and pigmentation.

Sleek MakeUp Matte Me Lip Cream (P450) / Available in department stores

The Matte Me is one of the OGs of the modern liquid lipstick scene. This year, they came out with completely new shades! We love all six of them but Old Hollywood is probably our fave matte red of 2016.

Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Lipstick in Brazilian Nude (P2,150) / Available in Rustan's and Estee Lauder stores

The VB x EL collab is hands down our fave this year. Brazilian Nude, a spicy, glossy brown, is Ms. Beckham's signature shade! It's versatile and hydrating on the lips, which makes it one of our daily go tos.

And that wraps up our Best In 2016 Series! We hope you enjoyed going through the lists (and reading the reviews). It's been a beautiful year for Project Vanity, and we hope to see you around as we feature more of our amazing finds in 2017. Don't go yet though - we want to know your top lip picks this year, too! Which formulas and colors rocked your world this 2016?
