This tinted sunscreen is your summer must-have: Hello Glow Niacinamide Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+PA++++

This story is made in partnership with Hello Glow / Product photography by Perkin Gotohio

Summer is upon us! For me, it means paying extra attention to my skin concerns (oiliness, dry patches, dark marks) while powering up my SPF protection. I’ve also been looking into simplifying my beauty routine: the less layers of skin care and makeup, the better! The clear answer to me was finding multitasking makeup products that also have skin care benefits and sun protection.

I thought it might be too much to ask of one product, until I came across Hello Glow Niacinamide Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++ (P320/ 50g). I really like that it has full spectrum UV protection with SPF 50+, since most tinted sunscreens I’ve tried range from SPF 15-30 only. It also says on the package that it is lightweight, helps with oil control, and has a dewy finish. Exactly what I was looking for in a summer base! And since it has Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid, it will help fade dark marks and give lasting hydration to skin.

A quick swatch on the back of my hand honestly made me doubt if it will work well for me. The tinted sunscreen was so clearly not a match for my light to medium skin tone. I quickly blended it out on half of the back of my hand: it evened out the skin color but was still obviously lighter than my natural skin tone. It completely set after a few minutes though, and I could see what they meant by “tone-adapt technology.” The sunscreen changed color, matching my skin tone! Bonus: it added a natural-looking, healthy sheen to my skin. No white cast spotted. Definitely my skin, but better!

The photo on the left is my bare face after my morning routine (face wash, hydrating essence, and gel moisturizer). I have sensitive combination skin, which translates to redness, oily t-zone, and the occasional dry patches. I also have dark marks left behind by past breakouts. The photo on the right was taken a few minutes after applying Hello Glow Niacinamide Tinted Sunscreen, allowing it to set fully. I love how it evened out my skin tone, while adding that healthy sheen without the oiliness! My skin feels hydrated, but doesn’t feel sticky at all. It’s good enough to wear on its own, but can also be used as a makeup base. For my everyday look, I plan on setting it with a translucent powder. But for days when I will be photographed, I can add a light layer of foundation and spot-conceal for a more polished look.

I tried using it as a replacement for my usual sunscreen, primer, and tinted moisturizer base. In this photo, I set the Hello Glow Niacinamide Tinted Sunscreen with translucent setting powder, and applied my face and eye makeup as usual. I was happy with the result, and the look lasted the whole day! This is definitely going with me to the beach this summer–in fact I declare it a permanent addition to my travel makeup kit. It works as well as three products in my regular routine, which means less prep time and more space in my kit.

I do have to include a short note about sun protection. Because the product has a thick, creamy texture, I didn’t apply the same amount I would use as a regular sunscreen. The workaround for me is layering the SPF. Hello Glow recommends applying their Suncare Stick SPF 60+ on top of their tinted sunscreen. Using a powder with SPF to set your look is also an option. If you have a setting spray with SPF, that would add another layer of SPF and help make sure your look lasts longer, too.

All in all, I highly recommend Hello Glow Niacinamide Tinted Sunscreen to anyone looking for a hydrating yet non-sticky base perfect for the summer. It’s such a steal at only P320 for a 50g full-sized pouch! Check it out at Watsons, SM Department Stores, and other leading department stores near you. You can also order online via Shopee, Lazada, and Tiktok.
