Chezka Carandang, pilot

As a member and supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, Chezka Carandang has gone through a long journey of learning how to raise her voice for her own happiness. To figure out what she wanted for herself she tried pursuing commercial acting, modeling gigs, and beauty pageants, and even had the opportunity to participate in Miss Earth Philippines in 2015. After her pageant stint, Chezka trained to become a flight attendant before discovering her real passion for flight, which led her to pursue her goal of becoming a Commercial Pilot.

While she now defies gender stereotypes by working in a male-dominated industry, part of her journey to self-discovery was the realizing that she wanted to express herself as a woman. “That’s why I started growing my long straight hair with Pantene. While she had initially feared coming out due to the potential rejection that she would face from her family, she now encourages other members of the community to flaunt their pride and reminds them that they “are not alone and that we are heard.”

Mela Habijan, beauty queen
