Celebrity x Beauty Brand Collaborations We Love

Hollywood and music are all about glitz and glam, so it comes naturally for beauty brands to collaborate with celebs, musicians, fashion designers, and other key industry players for their limited edition collections.

We never know what these celebrities would come up with - aside from the new product being unbearably cool, of course! What are our faves? Check out our list and see if your picks made it to ours.

Kate Moss x Rimmel London

What better way to celebrate your anniversary as the face of a makeup brand than with a collab? This is exactly what Kate Moss did on her tenth year as a beauty ambassador for Rimmel London. Her line of matte lipsticks that launched in 2011 is still going strong. What started as lipsticks in sleek black packaging soon expanded to a line of sexy dark tubes, still with Kate’s own signature in it. We love that the collection has bright reds to soft pinks and nudes, and that there is a shade for everyone and any occasion.

Karl Lagerfeld x Shu Uemura

We love that even if the collection has Karl Lagerfeld’s name in it, the Shu Uemura collection of eye and lip palettes, cleansing oils, and other makeup accessories is really an homage to his pet cat Choupette Lagerfeld. Aptly called Shupette in honor of the Karl’s pampered puss, the 15-piece collection is very soft and feminine. Think hues of milky pinks, powdery blues, soft golds, and plenty of glitter. Very fabuluxe.

Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay

No Doubt, Urban Decay has done it again. The makeup brand has created another cult favorite with the Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay collab, their first ever celebrity collaboration, too!

The limited edition collection has lots of bright lipsticks, bold shadows, and heavy metal inspired liners, with names that reference Gwen’s musical roots and hometown Anaheim, California. We’re loving the names of her lipsticks: Spiderweb, Rock Steady, and Ex-Girlfriend to name a few. If you’re a No Doubt fan and/or an Urban Decay disciple, this collection is the perfect match for you.

Guy Bourdin for Nars

Guy Bourdin is a controversial French fashion photographer who is known for his provocative fashion images. This is one of the collaborations where some beauty bloggers such as Christine of Temptalia had to issue a commentary with her usual swatches because she was uncomfortable with Bourdin’s body of work. We can’t blame her; with Bourdin’s usually sinister and strange narratives that often hint of violence and graphic sexuality, a makeup collection that sparks conversation with its bold, uncompromising, high impact finish is a must-have in our list.

Rihanna Hearts Mac Collection

Not only can Rihanna sell music in record-breaking speed, she can also sell out makeup. When the Rihanna Hearts Mac collection first came out, her bright red RiRi Woo lipstick sold out in three hours! The saturated, punchy red shade is now so sought after that it's apparently being sold on eBay at exorbitant prices. There are also shadows, blush, bronzer, mascara, and liners, plus the Rihanna Viva Glam lipstick, but tough luck if you can still find those in stores.

Tom Ford’s Lips & Boys Collection

Not exactly a collab, but in a pretty genius move, Tom Ford created a line of lipsticks named after famous guys. The collection named Lips & Boys has shades named after 25 celebrities such as One Direction’s Zayn Malik, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Patrick Dempsey. His best-selling shade though is called Drake, which is a pretty gorgeous rich burgundy, named after Hotline Bling singer Drake.

MAC x Caitlyn Jenner

Another celeb collab that we think the world will go crazy about is the MAC + Caitlin Jenner limited edition lipstick called Finally Free. Caitlyn describes it as an “everyday lipstick rather than a high-glam, once-in-while-shade.” Since 100% of proceeds will go to the MAC Aids Fund Transgender Initiative, Caitlyn said she designed this rosy nude shade with MAC so people can use it every day and buy more of it, raising more money and helping more people. It was recently released last April 7 in the US, and is an online exclusive.
