Serving the shady

Remember when Kat Von D spoke out about that whole Palette Dupe fiasco? Well, it looks like there’s another copycat going around the makeup world, and this might actually shock you! Black Moon Cosmetics is looking to file a lawsuit against Jeffree Star and Manny MUA for blatantly copying their brand logo and causing major confusion among their customers. Apparently the logo for the much-awaited Jeffree Star x Manny MUA collaboration set looks similar to the logo of Black Moon cosmetics: a holographic crescent moon against stark black packaging.

Black Moon claims that in a series of Instagram DMs, Manny MUA praised the brands logo and design before “stealing” it for his own collaboration with Makeup Geek. The cosmetics brand is looking to sue for damages, lawyer fees, and overall customer sales confusion as YouTube star “definitely knew what their logo looked like.” What do you girls think? Does this look like a straight-out copy of Black Moon’s logo?

EM(agine) that!

If you’ve spent countless hours watching tutorials, reviews and hauls on YouTube, then Michelle Phan is no stranger to your subscription box or Instagram feed. Well, the OG YouTuber and makeup guru recently announced something super exciting about her makeup brand EM Cosmetics: they’ve come out with their very own liquid cremes! YASSS! The EM Cosmetics Infinite Lip Clouds ($16) promise to be pigmented, non-drying, long lasting, and super comfortable on the lips. With a vibrant matte finish and velvety texture, these lippies claim to be the perfect shade for every undertone, and without sacrificing color payoff as it wears into a stain throughout the day.

The shades include Crimson Red (true red), Faded Clementine (orange), Muted Mauve (dusky rose), Rose Nude (pinky nude), Spanish Earth (brown), Ultramarine Violet (deep violet), and Violent Magenta (brown maroon). The lippies launch on the EM Cosmetics site on April 17, and you can watch Michelle talk more about the Infinite Lip Clouds here.
