Beauty Roundup: MAC’s Updated Matte Lippie Formula, New Benefit Brow Products, And A Dazzling Fenty Highlighter

Let’s do a throwback to pre-pandemic makeup holy grail (HG) finds. Remember how every beauty fan had to have at least one MAC bullet lipstick, and a fave from Benefit’s brow lineup? Where were you when RiRi made headlines with her gorgeously gilded Killawatt highlighter? And did you feel like a professional makeup artist when you discovered your perfect Make Up For Ever (MUFE) foundation shade match? These OG beauty HG’s are recently getting either lineup expansions or reformulations. It’s time to take another look at new editions of our favorite makeup staples. Let’s go on another Beauty Roundup!

Introducing M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick

MAC’s iconic matte bullet lipsticks have been given a makeover! Meet M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick ($25), which promises a silky matte finish, bolder color, with longer staying power and more comfortable wear. Even the packaging gets a facelift, favoring a high-shine finish for the casing and a luxe embossed bullet on the inside. Don’t you worry, all of their best-selling lipstick shades have been retained, as well as the signature vanilla scent we love. Newer, bolder shades are also available in this formula.

I’m so happy to see my faves from their Nude wardrobe: Whirl and Kinda Sexy. It does seem like the color payoff is more intense, based on the photo swatches.

Of course, their signature Ruby Woo takes front and center as one of their iconic Reds. Glad to see Chili, too: one of my fave orange-brown shades that look awesome on morenas.

As for the pinks, crowd fave Mehr is also in the lineup, as well as bubblegum pink Candy Yum Yum.

Take a look at the new shades! I’m excited to try Caviar and Everybody’s Heroine, as I haven’t tried a black and straight-up purple lipstick before.

So far, the silky matte lipsticks have been getting rave reviews from those who have tried them. But at the same time, fans of the original formula fear that MAC might phase out the OG, more affordable matte lipstick lineup.

In any case, I can’t wait to check them out! Currently, they’re available online and in-shop in the US. Will keep an eye out for their arrival in MAC stores locally and on the MAC Cosmetics Lazada Flagship Store.

New additions to Benefit’s brow lineup

Benefit has certainly established themselves to be at the forefront of every eyebrow need and trend. They have brow shaping and waxing services at their boutiques, as well as an extensive lineup of brow products and tools! Just when you think they’ve got it all covered, here they are with two new additions: Benefit Precisely, My Brow Wax and Precisely, My Brow Detailer.

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Wax is a tinted brow wax that comes in a convenient mascara tube. I already know what you’re thinking: it looks like their Gimme Brow Eyebrow Gel. While both come in mascara form and adds color to the brows, Precisely, My Brow Wax was formulated to keep the brows neat and tidy instead of adding volume. The dual-sided brush is also shaped differently for a more targeted application. Precisely, My Brow Wax comes in 12 shades.

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Detailer looks to be a great addition for those who put great attention to detail. With a 0.8 mm tip, you can draw the tiniest strokes to define tails and tips. I thought my Precisely, My Brow Pencil was already relatively thinner than most brow pencils, but the Brow Detailer’s tip is almost half as tiny! Precisely, My Brow Detailer comes with a convenient spoolie at the other end, like the other automatic Benefit brow pens. It is available in six shades.

For now, both brow products are available in Europe, Australia, and select countries in Asia. KPop singer Taeyeon is even endorsing it in South Korea! I will definitely keep an eye out for when they arrive here in the Philippines.

New Highlighters from Fenty Beauty

This one has been kept tightly under wraps, so we don’t have the full details just yet. But we found a sneak peak of Fenty Beauty DemiGlow Light Diffusing Highlighter! It looks to be a powder highlighter in the signature octagonal packaging, this time with a pretty pastel rainbow holograph on the cover. Just going by the product name, we can guess that these give off a softer, lit-from-within glow compared to the in-your-face shimmer of their Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter and Diamond Bomb All-Over Veil. I am here for that subtle glow in what looks like quite a few shade options! Looking forward to when it drops soon, hopefully on Sephora.ph too.

Meet MUFE’s new skin-caring foundation

Inspired by makeup artists’ backstage skin prep, Make Up For Ever HD Skin Hydra Glow takes inspiration from an unexpected source: the sheet mask. According to a Marie Claire article, the foundation is 86% skin care. While it instantly improves the appearance of skin with a naturally healthy glow, it also improves skin condition over time! Color me intrigued!

Knowing MUFE’s HD Skin foundation line, this is guaranteed to look great both in person and in professional lighting. It also comes in an inclusive lineup of 32 shades.

MUFE HD Skin Hydra Glow Foundation is set to make its debut online on February 6th. I pray that these will be available in-store soon, because I’m pretty much sold on it!

And that’s it for this week’s Beauty Roundup! Did anything catch your eye?
