Beauty Roundup: Serena Williams’ Makeup Brand, MAC Brings Back Disney, New NARS blushes, and Colourette’s #thatpeach campaign

And just like that, April is here! To distract us from the scorching heat, let’s do a roundup of this week’s WINS for beauty. Let’s get to know WYN BEAUTY, Serena Williams’ makeup brand. Find out which MAC x Disney limited edition products are making a comeback for the beauty brand’s 40th anniversary. NARS Cosmetics surprises us with a new formula and new shades for their powder blushes. Last but definitely not the least, Sassa Gurl wins as she stars in Colourette #thatpeach campaign.

WYN like Serena

On April 7, 2024, WYN BEAUTY by *the* Serena Williams makes its debut on their website and in Ulta USA. Like her attitude on court, it looks like she’s in it to ~WYN it in the world of beauty. The brand is set to launch ten (10) products with a total of 91 (!) unique SKU’s. WYN BEAUTY aims to fill the gap Williams saw in the beauty industry when she was an athlete: versatile skin-caring makeup that stays on all day, even on active days. All the products are designed with her signature chartreuse color and rounded edges reminiscent of the tennis ball.

The initial collection includes three lip products with different finishes: Say Everything Max Intensity Featherweight Lipstick (10 shades, $21), Word of Mouth Max Comfort Matte Lipstick (10 shades, $21), and No Words Needed Lip Serum ($18). Watch out for MVP: Most Versatile Pigment Multifunction Lip & Cheek Color (8 shades, $21). For the eyes, there’s Big Vision Lengthening & Defining Tubing Mascara ($19), Glideline Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($21), Glideline Longwear Eye Pencil ($19), and Taking Shape Brow Shading Pencil (3 shades, $19). Rounding up the collection is an impressive face base collection: Featuring You Hydrating Skin Enhancing Tint SPF 30 ($29) that comes in 36 shades, and Nothing To See Soft Matte Creamy Concealer ($25) that comes in 20 shades.

New and improved NARS powder blushes

Known for universally flattering shades and tongue-in-cheek names, NARS powder blushes have become a must-have in many makeup lovers’ collections. On March 29th, NARSissists around the world were surprised with the brand’s announcement on social media that they have reformulated their iconic powder blushes. Their upgraded formula promises intense true-color payoff, silky blendable application, and up to 16-hour wear. It is now available in twenty (20) shades.

Don’t worry, your favorite shades are still there including Orgasm, Dolce Vita, and Deep Throat. All the original cheek colors are available in the new formula, with the addition of eight (8) new shades: Thrill (matte cool light pink), Dominant (matte poppy pink), Teased (matte fuchsia), Exhibit A (matte red), Taj Mahal (burnished orange with golden shimmer), Foreplay (shimmering red brown), Orgasm Edge (matte peachy pink), and Orgasm Rush (deep rose bronze with shimmer).

Sassa Gurl for Colourette #thatpeach campaign

As far as April Fool’s statements go, Colourette totally won this year. A marketing campaign released on April first stars the one and only Sassa Gurl. Her signature sun-kissed look takes on a whole new level with Colourette’s iconic multi-use tint. “A little goes a long way” is definitely true for the lip and cheek tint, but because Sassa Gurl adds more than the usual, the tint eventually takes on more than just her cheeks.

And I mean… I’m not mad at it! She definitely works the “hotdog” look as she calls it. Catch the hilarious clip on Colourette’s social media pages.

And that’s it for this week’s roundup of beauty wins! See you on the next Beauty News Roundup :)
