Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Roly Poly Rosy

Since I've made a lot of new friends lately, I realize that I need to work on how I describe myself to other people. I was unfortunately arrogant enough to think that what I am and what I do is obvious; however, that's rarely the case. I need to work on a pitch for myself since I intend to socialize more. How about you, what's your pitch? How do you describe-slash-sell who you are?

Because you have to, you know, if only to show yourself that you know your value and you're ready to show it off. Put in in your to-do list! ;)

Anyway today, let's talk about the latest product in Clinique's best selling Chubby Stick line: the Cheek Colour Balm (~P1,500)! It's a cream blush that comes in a twist-up tube. It's convenient to use and pigmented juuuust right to get you a glowing flush in one swipe and a few pats. Everyone could use a fool-proof, use-anywhere blush, if you ask me!

The color I have is called Roly Poly Rosy, a cheery warm pink hue that flatters my medium skin perfectly. It could work for most tones too since it blends out as a fine layer of color when worn. It melts almost without effort as soon as you start spreading it on the cheeks.

This blush has a matte finish. The pigmentation is pretty good, so much so that you only need a swipe per cheek. There is absolutely no need to over-layer and then end up with an icky mess on your face.

The only catch perhaps is the staying power. This stays for an average of 2.5 to 3 hours on my combination skin. The Chubby Stick for cheeks has this hydrating balmy texture that tends to slide off quickly, although it leaves a light stain. It's easy enough to retouch with in any case as it only takes less than a minute to swipe then blend.

And here it is when worn! So pretty no? I adore cream blushes because they look like naturally flushing skin when applied. This effect is rarely easily achieved with a powder blush, so if you like natural-looking makeup, cream cheek colors are a must-have in your kit.

The packaging of the Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm is slightly fatter than the average chubby stick, but is about the same length. It's not terribly inconvenient to slip into wristlets and hand bags!

Overall, I'm really enjoying the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Roly Poly Rosy because it looks fab on me and requires only minimal effort to apply and retouch. I wish it would stay on longer, perhaps as a legit cheek stain, but I'm happy enough with the light stain it leaves at the moment.

Go for this if you have dry to combi skin. If you have very oily skin, you might be happier with a powder blush. Let me know your thoughts, as always!

Clinique is available inside Rustan's and in Megamall.
