My top 10 favorite finds last February

I can't believe I survived February. It's only the second month of the year but I've been ridiculously busy! I noticed that people like to brag that they're busy, as if it's an achievement. Like a badge of honor. For me, busy - or in my definition having too many things to do that I'm at my wits' end - is not good. I like to take my time doing my work so that it's polished and perfect before I turn it in. Being rushed all the time is no way to live.

Not that I'm complaining. I love my work, I just need more time to do it! And to rest afterwards. :) Anyway, here's my top ten best of February!

Headlining the list is the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner. Don't you just adore it when products are affordable AND work amazingly well at the same time? This gel eyeliner doesn't smudge or fade and comes with a really good brush too. :) It's not going to rival the MAC Fluidline (my fave gel liner of all time) but it comes close in terms of wear.

Another good drugstore find is the L'Oreal Lucent Magique Foundation. This is the drugstore version of Lancome Teint Miracle! It has a brightening, glowy finish without the shimmer, and makes skin look amazing in person and on camera. However, this doesn't last particularly long so if you have oily skin you might want to consider other options.

The MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Sunny Seoul is a staple daily lipstick for me lately. It's so pretty! And not too intimidating, if you know what I mean.

While I like dainty pink lipsticks I also have room for a daring flash of color like the Estee Lauder Pure Color Long-Lasting Lipstick in Fuchsia Fever. It's so eye-catching no? This is a great lipstick to wear when I'm too lazy to put on anything else. Fuchsia Fever is like the red lipstick of hot pinks!

I didn't think I would say this but I am picking up the Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler more often than my Shu. It's a great eyelash curler; you'll notice the difference when you curl your lashes with it. It fits my eye shape perfectly so I never accidently pinch off my hairs or smudge my eyeliner. It's surprising that no one is raving about this more!

The secret to my now almost blemish-free skin: the Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. It's expensive but I swear this works! On me anyway. It heals pimples and fades acne marks faster, and is quite economical to use too. I highly, highly recommend it. I hope it can work the same magic on you as it did on me.

Etude House never disappoints, not just in makeup but in their skincare as well. Currently I'm using the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Enriched Cream along with my Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. It's a heavy moisturizer that will not be feasible on oily skin, but on combi skin this works well. It keeps my face smooth and hydrated! That's all I ask from a moisturizer.

Aaand here's my current soap, the Beauty and Bright Moringa Soap. I like that it lathers well, smells fantastic, and I feel it makes my skin look more even. Props to new local brands that come out with natural, affordable products that work!

I've already emptied my Nivea Body UV Whitening Serum SPF25 PA++ and I'm definitely buying more. This chemical sunlblock doesn't streak, has a nice citrus scent, and is super duper light swear! It works well with the Beauty and Bright soap, I think. It's half the reason I feel my body skin is nicer than usual.

Last but not the least, the Blo Blow Dry Bar, a franchise from California, is now open in Manila! They churn out pretty good blow dries for P500 a pop. It's a great stopover before an event so do check it out if you have somewhere glamorous to be.

And that's it. Any great finds last February? Spill!

I am saving up for the Clearly Corrective Serum. It's so expensive but I want it so badly!

I'm using the Moistfull Cream and so much loving it. Just starting to use the Nivea serum although it doesn't moisturize well (well it's a serum in the first place) it did somejow brighten my skin and has already a sunblock so no need for me to layer tons of product on my skin

I've heard a lot of people rave about Sunny Seoul and I'm dying to try it out! Btw, have you tried Viva Glam Nicki yet, Ms Liz? Your thoughts? Apparently it's the best selling Viva Glam lipstick of all time. Anyone?

OMG so true! You can go ahead and conquer the world but you don't have to brag about it. Your achievements should speak for itself. See you soon, Liz! :)

Dark Spot Solution? I've always wondered if those things work on lightening freckles. That's something I really need!

1. MAC Mehr-- it's the perfect mlbb shade for me. Not too light, not too dark. It's matte but surprisingly creamy on me. I love it! It has been my go-to for weeks now. :)

2. I've tried the oil cleansing method recently (wherein you massage your face w/ olive oil (+ castor oil or essential oil) for a good 10-15mins, covering your face w/ a warm washcloth afterwards), aahhh pure bliss! They say that it removes impurities and improve skin tone and clarity. I have yet to see the long term benefits cos I've only tried it twice but it helped w/ my skin dryness so I'm adding it to my skincare regimen. It's relaxing and gentler than using a facial scrub.

Couldn't agree more on your thoughts about being rushed all the time! I want things done neatly and precisely so sometimes even if I wanna do things fast, I just can't. Haha. Have an amazing week ahead, Liz!

Every time you post something, it always becomes part of my wish list and then most likely I buy it that same day! Haha! So far in your favorites here, I've purchased 3 items already - nivea sunscreen, beauty bright soaps and etude's collagen moistfull; I am loving them. Next in my agenda is the BB eyelash curler, though I might need to save up a bit. I just got the Shu lash curler late last year, and same with you, it is much better than other brands but it pinches my left eye. So hard to find the right angle even if I use it everyday. I hope I can reward myself with the BB in the near future!

I hope I get to buy Kiehl's dark spot corrector this month! Getting annoyed at my stubborn blemishes. :/ Great list, as usal Ms. Liz!

I lovex3 the nivea whitening serum, very effective. :)

I love to try the BLO Blow Dry Bar, I used to go to that service in China, usong uso kasi tamad maligo mga tao dun! LOL!!! I love my hair each time I step out of the salon so its the best way to do especially may special events :D

Been using the Lucent Magique foundation for around two weeks now. I have combination skin and it looks amazing on the dry parts of my face. For the oily parts, I just have to use a good setting powder and it wears pretty well. :) love that it has SPF!

My fave this month has been NARS dolce vita blush. I've had it for ages but I rediscovered it this month and was reminded of how amazing it is.

So spot on with your thoughts on being busy. When I feel "busy" I know I'm not doing something right. Time management is key! I know i'll make time to check out Estée Lauder today--love the color and finish! And I second the motion on Nivea's body serum. So easy to spread even if you're in a rush.

I'm in love with Kiehl's Dark Spot Corrector, too! Super worth it! I wasn't too sure that it's going to work on me, but it really does. Ang galing. & I bought the Lucent Magique foundation after reading your review - ang ganda gandaaaaa. Haha!

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterRomila Marie

I can relate to what you are saying about being too busy. saying it sometimes doesn't mean your bragging.. it's more often what you are really saying is "I'm tired"
Ms. Liz, your favorites list is like that water that breaks the camels back in my case, I also read other blogs but even if I had read good reviews about some products I still hold out on buying them. But when I come across again the same products in your blog and you happen to like them, I'm convinced to buy them or to save money for future purchase.
I bought the maybelline gel liner, the nivea whitening serum ( super love, di malagkit and not with chemical scent). I have yet to find that Beauty and Bright soap when I go to Landmark. Will also see also if the collagen cream will be included on the selected sale items from etude on the beauty fair at sm megamall on march 16-18 . And I already ask my relative to buy for me that Mac Sunny Seoul.
But i have to save up for that Kiehl's spot corrector. :(

Btw, girls sm megamall will have a beauty fair on march 16-18, there will be discount on selected items from etude, tony moly, watsons and body shops. And skinfood will have 50% off on all of their products. so if your lemming on some skinfood products but find them a little expensive, perfect timing to hit their store on the said dates.

I hoped to see the Urban Decay Naked Basic Palette on this list, been actually waiting for your tutorial on that one. I got the last piece from your recommended online shop, Stuff in Style. So far, I'm only using 3 colors, based on your basic eyeshadow tutorial. Please do write on how to maximize that palette soon.

Am planning to get that Moistfull this month then I'll save up for the Dark Spot Solution :)

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKathy

I like your lipstick Sunny Seoul but I'm still holding off on buying one. Nasa research stage pa kasi ako. However I'm really going to get myself the collagen Moistfull for me and my mom, thanks to your post about it. Payday, dumating ka na! Lol! I would also like to try the Facial and Body Lightening Moringa Soap because as per your description and review, parang bagay siya sa problems ko with scars.

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKris

Your every month's top finds usually ends up in my wish list. Heto na naman..:) Would very much like to try the Maybelline eyeliner, L'Oreal foundation, Nivea body serum, and Etude collagen cream. Kiehls dark spot serum is on my birthday wish list.:)

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLian

I love all your favorites! Will try Maybelline liner and hopefully, when I have more money, I want to buy that spot correctore from Kiehl's. ^_^ Thanks for sharing! :)

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGenzzel

I'm curious about the Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler & Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution they seem promising! I first discovered VMV products through your blog & have since tried the Armada, ID gel, shampoo, etc. & I couldn't be happier w/ the brand. Looking forward to more of your reviews & fave finds! <3

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterEileen

@couchpotatomd, found the moringa soap on a kiosk in trinoma, near Clinique. They sell a bunch of human nature and organic stuff. I've been using it for a week. No breakouts anywhere, can't say if I'm getting lighter though.

My fave lipstick formula from MAC is sheen supreme! Not as drying as matte but doesn't disappear like the cream sheen. It's like right smack in the middle. Ultimate MLBB is Bare Again.

Kiehls CC dark spot solution, you're mine in the next salary day! Haha

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTin

I skipped from buying makeup for Feb. Felt like I have so much, some of the items, I havent even used yet! Oh, except for one teeny tiny eyebrow pen fr Etude. Ran out so had to buy. Pretty good for less than 200 bucks. That Keihl's serum is on top of my list now! Na displace na ang Midnight Recovery. LOL!

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterManilaJen

Blo Blow Dry Bar. <3 Really want to try it out, sana mag-open sila dito sa Pampanga. :(

@Khristine YOU HAVE MEHR! I've been looking for that since forever. Lucky you. Laging OOS sa mga counters yan, even sa mga online shops. I have to agree, perfect MLBB shade, mahirap hanapan ng dupe.

@miz eloise Ruby woo! (Biased <3) It stays on and on and on and on and on ... and on. Con lang talaga, super drying. Pero kakaiba talaga yung finish niya. Retro matte. <3

March 4, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaulina

For me, there's a healthy level of "busy" that can keep me on my toes but still leave room for sleep and QT. :) I find myself most productive when I have a several thing on my plate rather than just one at a time.

I'm seeing the Etude House Moistfull Collagen again on this list and I'm regretting that I didn't grab one last weekend! I got me a pair of cute leopard pumps on sale at Payless kaya I held off the purchase. Next payday! the Mac Sunny Seoul also looks interesting. Thanks Liz for the well-curated favorites list every month. the only downside here is it takes sheer willpower not to buy everything on this list. :D
