My top 10 favorite finds last December

I almost forgot to write this one! The last month of 2012 was a big lump of murky goings-on for me. I wasn't particularly busy, but neither was I especially lucid. Well I'm just happy it's over for January is always an exciting month. :) Here are my top 10 best finds last December!

I'll put the Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire on top because it's something that I always reach out for. I use it almost every time I got out! It makes my skin look smooth, bright and flawless even if I'm just wearing it as is. It has medium coverage, almost like foundation in retrospect. The SPF30 in it is a nice bonus!

The Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer is possibly the most pigmented concealer I have tried to date! That's good for people who need to cover drastic body/face marks, but they ought to be prepared to spend time blending it properly and then smoothing the whole thing over. It's not an everyday concealer for me, truth be told, but it's great when I have an angry red pimple. ;) It's so good covering up that it feels like cheating.

I have developed a taste for handy, pre-meditated makeup sets like the Benefit She's So Jet Set box. It's a nice kit for travelers and low-maintenance girls alike! Those four eyeshadows are pigmented and long-lasting enough without a primer so they're winners in my book.

Speaking of eyeshadows - you're probably sick of me posting this Estee Lauder Violet Underground Palette again and again! :P I can't help it though, it's so gorgeous to look at and to wear. I also like the Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Bete Noir to go with it. Match made in heaven really.

The Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips in Christmas Red is my holiday lip colour. It's so cheerful and sparkly! Granted it's not especially long-lasting or instantly pigmented, but for me it's the color that counts if the lipstick is inexpensive.

Oh, if packaging can kill! The Guerlain Shine Automatique Lipstick in Pamplelune stands out because of its one-gesture opening. Just slide the button down and poof! The lipstick pops out. I would like to see less expensive brands copying this! Formula-wise the lipstick is fine; Pamplelune is a juicy coral that's hard to go wrong with.

And here's another shining example of beautiful packaging. The limited edition Shiseido Camellia Compact features three shades that you can mix and match to get your best blush. The white can be used for simple highlighting, the pink for a fresher vibe, while red is for a deeper, more sultry flush. Mix all three to get a nice cheeky glow, but make sure that you take out most of the powder before applying it on your face. This is super pigmented, mind.

Voldermort had the Elder Wand, Sauron had the One Ring...I have my Japonesque Dual Sided Brush 130. Hehe. I'm not a villain but this brush is definitely a great tool to have around! It has four major uses for me (detailed in the review), which makes it worth much more than its P895 price tag.

Any beauty enthusiast worth her salt has probably heard of Sample Room. It's a local service that allows you to choose samples (and sometimes full-sized products) to try at very minimal cost. Sounds great, eh? Well nothing is ever really 100% free you know, since this service requires you to pay P100 for the shipping and to publish a review on the site to regain your points. Still, it's a good deal where everybody wins. Try it if you haven't yet.

This is my favorite December find. :) The Smart iPhone 5 has made my life so much more easier. The iPhone 5 is a great gadget by itself, but the Smart plan I'm subscribed to allows me to maximize it. The P1,200 All-in Plan lets me customize the services I want to use for the month, like if I want to call people more, it's just P250 for 80 minutes of calls to all networks. It's also P1,000 for unlimited mobile internet. I appreciate that I'm able to have this sort of control in a postpaid plan.

So there you go. Any great discoveries last December? Share!

Almost every lippie you try looks good on you. And you seem to be fond of Etude's lipsticks. They seem to be worth a try! I'm still searching for the lipstick that would be perfect for me. I have a morena complexion and dark lips so I'm having a hard time finding one!

The part where you made references to Voldemort and Sauron made me laugh! :) For a beauty blogger such as you, brushes are the magical item.

I realllly love Avon's UMR lipstick in Jubilee Rose! I wear it most of the time. Its not too much na man if I wear during day time no?

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLian

@Nina Try Revlon Pink in the Afternoon, it's a can't go wrong color!

@Lian No naman as long as everything else is simple! Or stained

I was gifted Maybelline's Colorsensational lipstick in Fifth Avenue Fuschia for Christmas and I absolutely love it on me! I was surprised myself I was able to pull off such a bright color. So here's to bolder lipstick choices for 2013! :)

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLysha

Of your list, the things I want to try are the Snoe Poudre, the EH lippie (any shade!), and the EL nail lacquer. I've tried Sample Room and they are really generous with their samples. It's just really hard to catch a restocking! T_T

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPat

best shot for estee lauder!I also used that, and WOW to your iphone5 but I so much enjoy my 4s...:D

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterOhms

The Japonesque Dual Sided Brush 130 which I got from Beauty Bar really does its job well. I use it mainly as a concealer brush. It's so easy to use and makes make-up application faster. Glad I bought it.

Also, (better late than sorry), I got the November Glamourbox. I was so excited because I got more than what I paid for. I wanted to try the Horus Mascara kasi but haven't had the chance yet and it's now January :). So I hope the mascara will make my eyes look good. I also liked the sample fragrances in the box.

Wow! The Snoe Powder top your list! I bet it's really good. What I use now is the EH BB Sun Pact which I bought after reading your review about it. ^_^ I think I now have an alternative.

For the concealer, Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer is a bit pricey for me. Have you tried Hard Candy Concealer? It's cheaper for around 400 pesos and I believe it works the same as AC. :)

I listed your EH Lipstick in my To buy list together with the Snoe poudre ^_^ and of course the great find is the iPhone 5. It's perfect for an awesome blogger like you. Thanks for sharing your great finds last month. It really helps readers to have new ideas what's out there :)

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGenzel

!Woww ang bongga naman ng mga to, im glad to see that my favorite brand, Snoe made it on your list! Hhow about for hair products, what are your holy grail items?

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermizeloise

As usual, ang dami ko na naman gusto! But I'll be checking out Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire and Revlon Pink in the Afternoon as soon as I get off from work later! Haha! I appreciate you featuring your faves of the month. Feel like you're doing the choosing for us na, saves us from confusion about which items are worth checking.:-)

@Genzel: Where do you get Hard Candy? Does it cake/settle into fine lines? This is my main issue with concealers kase. I hope you can post a reply. Thanks!

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterYani

@Yani : Hello there, I bought it from Nywholesaleph. It works almost the same as AC based on Ms. Liz' review of AC. You have to blend blend blend. It doesn't settle on lines. :) It can even be used on scars like on legs or arms. It's a great product to try too :)

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGenzel

Wow, the Benefit makeup set is enticing! I find makeup sets practical especially for makeup neophytes like me. I see myself as a newbie because I'm still experimenting with a lot of looks and the only thing I've established for now is the basics. My best fashion find in the entire year of 2012 would be the youtube tutorials and fashion blogs such as this one. I learn from the vlogger, blogger, subscribers and commenters. If I had to describe in one word the online community of makeup and fashion enthusiasts, I'd say DYNAMIC.

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMaybelle

I have a fair complexion but unfortunately, I could not get the right shade of red lipstick for me. Any suggestions?
I would love to try Snoe products as I have been hearing a lot about it. Is it available in the provinces?

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPrincess Julia

My favorite discovery is more fashion related - Basic House in Greenhills. I swear it has a lot of gorgeous pieces that's so easy to mix with whatever you already have in your closet. It's always nice to invest in basics especially when your school doesn't have a uniform!

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKim

eep! etude christmas red is also my favorite! as soon I saw your swatch, I went to etude the next day and swatched in on myself. I instantly fell in love with it, didn't dried my lips and the color is perfect for my skin.
I love how I always end up having a great buy because of you!

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPauline P.

sI've read raves about japonesque brushes on different beauty blogs abroad and here im just not sure if they sell a whole set in Purebeauty Serendra though. Or they just sell it individually? where else can i buy brushes from Japonesque?

January 16, 2013 | Unregistered Commenteryan

From your list, i want to try the Snoe powder.
@Nina Yes, try Ms. Liz suggestion of Revlon's pink in the Afternoon. I bought it based on her post, and It's such a wearable pink even for morenas like us. I don't feel to concious that I am wearing a bright pink with this one when I use it at work, yet I get compliments that i look dainty, mahinhin and mabait when I wear it. he-he-!
@ Yani, get the pink in the afternoon na, its worth it!
@Genzel i looked up the site that you mentioned, and I like that they carry wide range of US drugstore products on their site. How was transacting and buying from this site? I want feedback sana before I place some order.

January 17, 2013 | Unregistered Commentercouchpotato_md

@couchpotato_md : Hi! I've been buying from them for more than a year now and so far so good. No problems or anything. I even recommend it to my friends :) The only catch is they are all pre-order so you have to wait for a couple of weeks :)

January 17, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGenzel

I got a Smart Iphone 5 too!! :D Although I had to wait until January to get it because they don't have an available unit when I applied in December.

January 17, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCris

@Genzel thank you for your feedback. I browse on their website and natuwa ako sa variety which is a lot more than other sellers have and the price is lower as compared to some as well. Thanks for the info, I was excited that they have physicians formula, MAC, rimmel and Milani. Now I dont have to wait for my relatives from abroad to go home to get on some of the US drugstore products that I had my eye on because they are out of stock or I cant find a seller here. I don't mind naman pre-orders as long as I'm dealing with a good seller. Thanks again, super happy with this info!

January 17, 2013 | Unregistered Commentercouchpotato_md

Love these posts! I am very interested with Snoe products at the moment. Just have to find out which to buy first. =) I try to find HG products and your blog is the first one I go to. I actually found most of my HG products in your blog. Thank you for HD pictures and honest, complete reviews. I think I have to check those Japonesque brushes and EH lipsticks now.

Actually, make-up brushes are like wands because they have the power to transform your look. Makeupgeek (youtube) said that "there are two things that can make or break your look; your primers and your brushes".

January 17, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterNikka

@Ms. Liz, I'll be trying that one! Thank you for your suggestion!

@couchpotato_md: Wow! I'm excited to try it! My boss keeps telling me to put on make up but I never do! I hope that by putting make up, I'll look up to my age. Most people think I'm still a student in high school even though I've already graduated.
