VMV Hypoallergenics Skin Savvy 60 Protective Perfector
Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:26AM I love the VMV Skintangible, but as fantastic as it is it has limitations due to it being a tinted moisturizer at best. Girls who are looking for better coverage, shade match, and higher SPF may not find it compelling enough. But never worry! Skintangible has a grown-up sister who can take all the heavy lifting: the VMV Hypoallergenics Skin Savvy 60 Foundation (P1,840).

This foundation is exactly like Skintangible in terms of packaging and how it's dubbed to be 75% free of common allergens. But that's where the similarity stops. Skin Savvy is a cream foundation with SPF60, six available shades, and full coverage. It lasts fairly well under the tropical heat, too! Just set it with loose powder and you're done.

However, because of these "extra" features, Skin Savvy has some down sides. First, it's quite sticky and thick due to the SPF60 component. I find it an uncomfortable foundation to use because of the texture. Second, it gives an obvious white cast if you stand in certain indoor lighting or have your picture taken with flash. Again, that's the SPF60.

I think that this foundation is ideal for people who are always out - say if you're into active sports, or if your work/school requires you to be exposed for long periods of time outside. It's convenient as it will cut your application time in half as you won't need to apply moisturizer, then sunblock, then foundation anymore!
However if you're mostly indoors, this is an impractical choice. You won't need the SPF 60, indeed, SPF30 is enough for normal wear. Just stick to Skintangible or to your normal foundation.

I'm using W3 here, which is light and beige-y upon application but it blends nicely afterwards
Overall, the VMV Hypoallergenics Skin Savvy 60 Foundation delivers a perfecting finish with superb sun protection. Personally it's not something I would use regularly as I'm always in the house or in another indoor venue, but I think active girls with sensitive skin will love it. It's the kind of product that will keep your skin looking good AND protected while you're baking in the sun. Not a lot of products can do that. ;)
How about you, does this look like a foundation you'll go for?

You're right Ms. Liz! This is so perfect for those who work on field. Buti nalang office base ako. Hihi. And hey, looking great with that sweater. Parang you look more pretty this ber month! :)
I'm not sure if my comment got posted. I somehow lost my connection! :(
Anyway! I should have bought this foundation instead of the Make Up Forever Matt Velvet foundation - that thing is all about the coverage. As for VMV Skin Savy 60, it's all about the skin and taking care of it the right way! SPF 60!!! :D Plus, this one costs less... I bought my MUF for almost twice the price. When I asked at Glorietta 3, they told me Skin Savy 60 is being sold at 1,300 if I remember correctly.
Thinking of selling my MUF foundation lol :p
You look fresh in the photo IMHO. I think I'll just stick to Skintangible, the only direct sun exposure I get is my everyday commute from work to our home which is only 30-40 minutes away (15 mins if I ride a cab) so its kinda impractical for me.
However I'm wondering if we can counter react the white cast by setting the foundie with a darker shade of powder?
This looks great on you! :) I'm actually considering VMV face products because lately my MAC Studio Fix Foundation has been breaking me out. :( I want to try looking into hypoallergenic makeup but VMV is a tad pricier compared to the other brands! And as you said, this isn't too good for girls who work indoors.
Are there any other foundations that you can recommend that is gentle on the skin?
Wanted to get hOld of skintangible, but then eto na nman..:) hai.. So many on my checklist. Tsk tsk.. Have to wait on it pa til it gets available here at Bacolod. The sales lady doesnt even know what skintangible is.. Hihi
I think I could make use of this. Or maybe it's better for me not to wear makeup. Chemical engineers can have dirty dirty jobs. :P
I work mostly indoors too and my sunblock lotion in my day regime topped with a sheer to medium coverage foundation always does the job. Also that is the reason why I'd still go for sun and UV rays protection via the skincare line rather than in cosmetics/makeup so I don't need SPF on my makeup at all especially in foundations. :)
My.. It looks great on you Ms. Liz! Great coverage I could say. :) I always want to buy new foundations. However, they are very expensive so I could not buy until I consume my MAC pro longwear foundation. :| I hope you could post an updated version of your "top six foundation picks". :) thanks!
Thanks for this wonderful review Liz.. I saw this at the mall a month ago and it looked promising esp with the high SPF 60. Your skin looks so beautiful. Godbless
This really brightened up your face Ms. Liz! :) Soft, glowy and dewy-like skin.
Im really interested about this product, especially because of its SPF. I am not so fond of products with high SPF, but you got a perfect shot there! No white cast! :)
