Boudoir dilemma

This morning I attempted to re-organize my dresser. "Attempted" is the operative word here. It still looks rather messy but as far as I'm concerned everything is where I want them to be. Hehe.

I just re-used some boxes but I will probably buy proper containers in the near future. Or not. I love the idea of recycling even if the end result doesn't look as pretty or as neat as new things. But I also love the idea of having clear storage boxes with sections. Ugh. I don't know! What do you think?

These are all the stuff that I'm currently using or trying out. I divided everything in six containers: eyeliner/eyebrow products, eyeshadows, mascaras, face products like blushes and foundations, brushes, and random stuff I like! Since I have a lot, I decided to use open containers so I can freely rummage through the items instead of storing them in tiny organized slots. It's not like I would put them back properly.

Blushes, concealers, foundations, mascaras

Random stuff I want to have on hand - particularly the new ones I want to review. Lipsticks, glosses, highlighters, etc. I keep lipsticks in a separate box in the dresser.

Eyeshadow singles and palettes

Eyeliners, eyebrow products, lip balms

And that's it! How about you, how do you currently organize your makeup?

Wow Ms.Liz! Super dami na ng makeup mo! Hehe. I just normally buy organizers at Japanese Store and some baskets from Department Store. I put the face cleansers together, the makeup together and accesoories. Since konti palang naman po ang collection ko ng makeup. Anyway, Thank you Ms.Liz for the package! I received them yesterday! I love it! Thank you so much!

I bought acrylic organizers from japan supplies store. quite fun and they have a lot of cute options :D i cant bring myself to buy a muji drawer bec i know one would not be enough and one is pricey enough for me. :D I store my eye pencils in monochromatic almost translucent pencil cases. one for colored pencils. one for eyebrow shiznits :D i also separate my concealers in one acrylic case. then separate case and mineral makeups and liquid liners. the most organized part of my collection are brushes, then lipsticks. worst, eyeshadow section :D just hate how they come in diff sizes! :D

i love makeup organizing posts! enjoyed looking through your futile attempt, as you put it :D

Ang dami! Kainggit!

I store my clutter in a pink 2-layered box. One is for face products (blush, foundation, powder, concealer, primer), and the other layer is for the eyes (palettes, liners, lashes, glue, brow pencils, brow powders). And my lipsticks I store in a teeny tiny 3tiered drawer. Nudes, reds/darks, and pinks!

Btw, I saw that plastic drawers are for sale now at Ace Hardware :) They're not pretty, but they're functional naman. And they can house all your stuff.

I have two vanity kits: one for lip products and the other for all the rest. Haha! Simple, but it works.

WOW! That's a lot! Do you ever get to use all of them? How about expiration dates? I store mine in bin/tray kind of thing. I've been looking for something clear with compartments, too.

Muji is the answer! Shallow and deep drawers stacked on top of one another. They're clear/ see-through which will force you to keep the stuff inside neat as well. If you prefer a more organic look they have weave baskets as well. They may seem pricey at first but when you think about it, it's worth it and sulit because you will be using the storage items for a long time. :)

WOAH. Care to donate or even sell some of those (to me)? HAHAHA just kidding. I have a train case from Suesh because I'm starting to freelance as a makeup artist, so I put all my makeup stuff (both for personal and for gigs) in there! So far everything's been able to fit (thank goodness).

Hi guys! Thanks for sharing your tips! I'll check out some clear containers as soon as I hit the mall.

Some common questions:

Do I get to use all of them: Yes, but some I use more often than others. This is my "curated" collection na. The stuff I don't plan to use much, I give away to friends and family. The stuff that are yet unused, I keep them in separate paper bags, stored somewhere cool.

How do I know when they expire? As a rule, I don't keep cream/liquid products that are older than two years after opening (depends pa on what kind of product). For powders like eyeshadows/foundation/blush, I throw out after 2.5 3 years. :) I've already cleared the expired stuff in this collection.

Cringe. That is a huge beautiful mess! lol
Storage/organizing solution: kitchen wares, office supplies, stackable trays and drawers!

Visit Howard's Storage World, Muji, office supply store, and or the department store.
Look around the kitchen/plastic container area, you'll find loads of awesome stuff on where to store and organize your makeup.

Hope this helps! Or I can always come with if you need a helping hand organizing (:
I am OC when it comes to organizing stuff!

eep. i've no idea how you even manage to choose favorites! mmm, maybe you can try those clear pockets you can hang behind doors? drawers would be my best bet, too, but it'll take me forever to decide how to organize them (by type or by favorites?)

maybe you can assign a day to use each product? challenging but at least everything's in rotation. :)

hi!

Natawa ako when I read about the "recycling" of boxes. As for me, I like to re-use naman those chocolate boxes and the chey tony popcorn tumblers! they have covers so the dust wont go through the make up kits and spacious. And since my nephew would play most of the time in my room, the covered tumblers keep them together especially pag tinatapon nalang nya bigla yung mga containers on top of the dressers. I am also a strong advocate of recycling stuff; why buy when you can use almost the same organizers for free :)

@Trixie thanks for the suggestions! I will check out all those places.

I was at muji two weeks ago and spotted the infamous acryclic drawers. There's something oddly satisfying in sliding the drawers open and the way it glides when you close it.

Whoa! That's a LOT of stuff for personal use! I love it! It makes me feel sane that there are gals like you Liz who loooves make up/beauty stuff as much as I do! I feel normal now, hehe.
Its so easy to shop but so hard to organize and clear up stuff. I usually keep 50% of "whats supposed to be thrown out" LOL Might be a girl thing :)

I use ferrero plastic bins or boxes not only for makeup but also other trinkets/accessories
