JC Buendia for Kaschieca: Downton Abbey 90+ years into the future

Do you guys watch Downton Abbey? YOU SHOULD. It's a historical drama about the lives of an English titled family and their servants in the early 20th century. Affecting them all are events happening in the larger world like the sinking of the Titanic and the first World War. The actors are fantastic, the story, poignant, and the clothes! My dears, you shall be inspired.

The ladies wore charming tea dresses with immaculate, softly tailored tops. While we can still definitely do this today, wouldn't it be a little impractical to be walking around in heavy lace and full-length dresses? It is. Which is why I love JC Buendia's collection for Kashieca: it's inspired by Downton Abbey, except the clothes are made for the 21st century no-fuss working woman.

Don't expect any print-crazy trendy stuff. JC Buendia had something a lot more sophisticated and body-friendly in mind! The collection is full of figure enhancing tops and bottoms done in practical fabrics that can handle daily wear and tear.

The cuts aren't the sort that you'll see in your average Bangkok and China rebranded stores. Since the clothes are exclusively designed, you get the extensive experience and knowledge of the female body only a trained designer can give to his work.

I know that the clothes look kind of plain in the photos, but wait 'till you fit them! I got this top below and a pair of tan shorts (also from the collection, only P700-ish) and holy hell, I looked good. I wore them both last Saturday and I felt like a donya. Haha. I'll show you a pic when I wear the again.

Gorgeous sequined dress. Reminds me of this Downton Abbey dinner dress:

Here's a black version, but the sequins in front

Beautiful top! This will never go out of style.

And that's it. :) The clothes in this collection are all reasonably priced at P700 to P1,200 a piece (dresses being the most expensive). I say, not bad! I want to go back for the black shorts and this ribboned top. Go check it out!

The man himself, JC Buendia. He is so gracious and soft-spoken! Thank you for having us. :)

I honestly don't see the downtown abbey peg at all. It all seems too casual and common. :(

i wanna see your outfit! gusto ko yung "i felt like a donya" style, hehehe.....

Are you kidding me?! The link to Downton Abbey and turn-of-the-century style is too strained. None of those (jersey) clothes have that classic cut and tailoring. And sequins, really? I usually love your content, but this smacks of "sponsored post". I would have rather had a run-of-the-mill press release than a misleading post title.

And I saw the buttondown and shift dress (that's bad hemming right there) in Greenhills last week. For PhP 300. Exclusive and quality fabric? I don't think so.

Hey Arianne! I'm sorry you think that. This isn't a sponsored post - I always disclose when it is sponsored.

I do believe that it is inspired by Downton Abbey - inspired by, not the same, which is why I said that it's 90+ years into the future in the title. The mood and intent is the same, execution-wise, it's not an exact copy which is how it should be.

I don't know about the shift dress as I rarely visit Greenhills, but the button-down batwing top is a fairly common design that I see around. You should check out the fabric and fit personally though; I think there is a difference.

I also did not say that the fabric is exclusive; I said they are practical and that they can handle daily wear and tear.

I did say that the designs are exclusive and done by JC Buendia. There are basics as well, which explains the batwing top and shorts.

Thanks for your feedback!
