Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick in M PK 335
Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11:47AM I love how matte lipsticks look but I don't like how they feel on the lips. They're heavy, thick, and drying if I don't prime my lips properly with a hydrating balm. They're less comfortable compared to glossy lipsticks but in exchange they last waaay longer and leave a pretty stain.

One lipstick that I'm really digging is the new Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick in M PK 335 (P1,285). It feels like silicone primer on the lips - indeed, it's silicone-based! - so it's cushy, soft, and not at all heavy. Trivia: this lipstick's main ingredient is dimethicone, a type of silicone oil that is largely used in shampoos to keep hair smooth and shiny. It's safe, don't worry! I just think it's neat.

Aaanyway. This matte lipstick lasts super long and doesn't fade completely even after eating. It doesn't transfer too much on glasses and utensils, plus, it's not drying. However, if you have flaky lips, expect the flakes to make a nasty appearance after a few hours. It's just the milky pink color though (it's never flattering on dry lips), not the formula.

Ahh, the color. M PK 334 is a lavender pink that's definitely not for everyone. This will work only for fair to light medium tones - on me, it's already a stretch! It looks more lavender when I just wear it with neutral makeup, but when I have a smoky eye on and some blush, it comes out more pink. So yes, if we have the same tone, wear this with heavy eyes to keep the color from washing you out.

Nonetheless, I love the shade. It's unexpected, uncommon. I already have a large collection of lippies so I'm happy to have something like this, but if you intend to blow P1,000+ on a Shu Uemura lipstick, go for a more classic, flattering shade like the ones below.

I highly recommend that peach nude (IT'S PERFECT! I wanted so badly to get it but I already have nice nudes), the true red, and the hot pink. You will get a bang for your buck if you get can't-go-wrong shades like this!
Overall, I think the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick is amazing. I haven't tried anything like it, even among other high end brands, due to its unique silicone base. Try it if you're looking for a luxe lippie that will serve you loyally in the parties to come this season.
If you like the shade I featured, I happen to have a drugstore dupe - not exactly the same as it's more pink but it's close. I'll show you soon. It's not as comfy as Shu, but hey there's a reason the lipstick is over a thousand bucks. ;)
Sooo whaddaya think? Does this look like something you'd try? What's your most offbeat lipstick shade ever?

woah, those are bright and gorgeous mattes! I hardly come across hot pinks that are matte and not flakey. Those really look lush.
I just bought Mon Shu Red. It's my first Shu Uemura Lipstick and it's the best! I love the shade you have too. It's really girly and soft. :)
can i just say that your eye make up here is so gorgeous. can you make a tutorial for that purplish looking smokey eyes?
Looks great but expensive. Hope you also feature good local makeup products.
I'll wait on your post about its dope, can't spend a thousand bucks for a lipstick. Hihi ;)
Your blog makes my wallet weep! :( The hot pink one looks soooo nice.
wow... i guess i like the shade, but you're right, i think it won't be really flattering for morena skins like mine. XD. anyway, nice post.

Sounds like perfection! I'd put my money on the hot pink shade... if I have any left. ;__;
Well, another item to put on my Christmas wishlist, I guess. I just hope Santa will hear me out this time.
Anyway, this post is really timely. I've been looking for a good matte lipstick. I've tried all the shade of Revlon matte lippies, but I haven't found the one I wanted yet. The one you bought looks something like a cross of Sky Pink and Pink Pout from Revlon, which probably explains why it looks like a perfect shade of natural pink. :)
Thank you for this post Ms. Liz! :D
I think Bobbi Brown also just released their cream matte lipsticks! Will you be reviewing those anytime soon?
I think a Php1,000 for a Shu lipstick is reasonable considering other brands are priced similarly (MAC for instance) and their mattes are drying :(
oh em! I love matte lipsticks kasi they last long. And they look.. less attention grabbing. I do love applying make up but when it's so shiny or glittery, I think it's not flattering on me already. I'd love to try the peach nude <3
I bet they're all awesome. I want the red and beige one. They have thisanniversary gift sets promo for October and was itching to get a set that includes a matte rouge lippie.
Hi Liz! Matte lipsticks are very nice since it does not give off an in-you-face feel that you are wearing lipstick, and I agree that it has an increased staying power as compared to glossy lipsticks. however, it does accentuate dry and flaky lips. The The Rouge Unlimited Collection's color payoff looks good, and they covered all the must-need basic colors of lippies every woman should own. It's a bit expensive though, so I might skip it and look for other mattes.
It looks like Nicki Minaj's color on you!
I have not found my HG nude lipstick yet. Sometimes it's too washed-out, sometimes too dark. Not flattering at all. :/ I might give that peach nude a try. :)

Ms. Liz, I've been wanting to get a shade like that. Yung sa MAC kasi, maganda yung pigmentation ng pink nouveau and saint germain but once I put it on my lips nagiiba na. Nalipasan na nga ako ng panahon eh, I've been looking for that barbie pink shade for more than 2 years now and kahit hindi na sya uso, yun pa din hinahanap ko. I hope this one will have the same color/effect on my lips kasi eto talaga yung hinahanap ko.
What's the color on the rightmost side?
Is it rouge?:D
The one on the center is love!
