FOTD: Inspired by Irene Adler

I loved Rachel McAdams's makeup when she played Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes. The colors used were dark and seductive - just exactly my sort of thing!

Of course, I had to copy what she had on. The plum, brown, and gray smoky eye was easy to dupe but the lips were a problem. I didn't have wine-colored lipstick so I had to make do with brick red lipstick mixed with a little pink. When I blotted it, the color became slightly closer to Irene Adler's but it's still on the pinkish red side.

Face: MAC Studiofinish concealer, Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Foundation, Ellana Espresso Con Panna, Stila Illuminating Finishing Powder, Artdeco bronzing compact, Shu Uemura Glow on in Amber

Eyes: In2It brow kit, Dollface 28-color Neutral Palette, Smashbox copper cream eyeliner (#14) as base, and Smashbox black eyeliner #15 to line

Lips: Dollface 32-color lip palette, brick red mixed with pink (although the nuances don't show in the picture, sigh)

The eyes were complex and needed precision. I used a copper eyeliner all over the lid as a base, to give dimension to the dark plum eyeshadow on top of it. Then I used a tan eyeshadow on the crease to blend out the harsh edges. I then lined my eyes all over and smudged it with a brush loaded with dark gray eyeshadow. Finally, I highlighted my brow bone with a beige eyeshadow.

This is lovely! Are the browns from the Dollface palette?
