Ask Liz! > How often should Pinays wash their hair?

Hi Liz, just want to ask if how often should we shampoo our hair?.. I'm currently shampooing my hair everyday which I've read was not a good idea. I also have frequent hair fall and it's really frustrating. I've tried a lot of hair products that claims to prevent hair fall but none of them works for me. any recommendations? thanks!

Hi Joanne, I think shampoo usage is highly dependent on your exposure to pollution. Eek! I commute to and from work. That being said, I do wash my hair daily. One technique (which I think works) is to first mix the shampoo with water before applying to the hair. Hope this helps!

I think this is a case to case basis. It depends on how humid it is, and like Jheng said how exposed you are to the dirt and the sun!

Personally I wash my hair every other day only as I am only out of the house about three or four days a week. I work mainly from home so I can get away with not washing so often.

If you're experiencing hair fall though, perhaps it's not the shampoo, but your lifestyle. Could be stress, could be your diet. Stick with mild shampoos like baby shampoo, and lessen your use of conditioners that may make the hair heavier.

I wash my hair every other day, but my daily routine is house- car- office- car- house so it's not really exposed to the elements/ pollution that would make it dirty and sticky at the end of the day. I also use baby powder in between days if it looks a bit too oily na.

I read that Lucy Torres does conditioner- shampoo instead of shampoo- conditioner for washing her hair, and for some reason, it really did make my hair healthier and less prone to damages and hair fall!
