Ask Liz! > Getting Facials
I used to think this too but there have been many cases that facials end up ruining your skin due to sensitivity. It really also depends on where your getting your facial. Sometimes the "facialist" tends to be too harsh or not really fully educated on handling skin. I personally don't think its a necessity to be done regularly.

I think it's not necessary but it helps a lot in maintaining good-looking skin. I say it's not necessary because skincare, IMHO, should be done internally and externally. If you have unhealthy diet or bad sleeping habits or vices or ineffective stress management, no amount of facials will counter the detructive effects of those mentioned above. However if you are living a healthy lifestyle and have a budget for facials, go ahead and pamper yourself. :-)

@tricia Yeah! Some clinics pa don't train their employees properly. I've experienced getting facials wherein they just cleanse, vacuum and then put a facial mask on you in a really amateur way then tapos na. Money down the drain. The pricking part is especially tricky so it's best to leave that to a real dermatologist and not just the trained "facialist".
@maybelle Agree! Though sometimes I worry that my current skincare regimen do not deeply clean my face (think dirt inside the pores). But yeah, I think that your skin takes care of itself also if you take good care of your health. I noticed that I get more pimples when I don't get enough sleep. Must avoid sleepless nights!
Thanks you guys! :)

Hi Yana! Try DermClinic. I'm not associated with them but they have been my go-to skincare clinic for almost a decade now. The staff are well-trained, it's not so expensive, and I don't feel like they're scrimping on the procedure like you mentioned (cleanse, vacuum, mask and that's it!). Plus if ever there are prickings, a licensed dermatologist does it. And yes, I think facials are necessary for deep skin cleansing, but you don't have to do it super often. Because then it becomes bad and dries up your skin even more. Once a month is fine. The skin has to have ample time to heal.:-)

Thanks so much Yani! I made an appointment for a facial at Dermclinic SM the block this weekend! Hoping they take good care of me! :)

I don't think getting regular facials is a must as long as you have a good and complete daily skin care routine and you use gentle exfoliating products at least once weekly. If you have other concerns such as acne then I guess that would be another matter all together and a derma consult with a reputable clinic is a must.

Hi Ms. Liz, I just wanted to ask if it's necessary to get a facial regularly in order to achieve a good-looking skin? How often do you get a facial and what facial clinics can you recommend? :) Thank you!
