Hi liz, this is actually a personal question. I actually googled some beauty & fashion bloggers and your blog catches my attention. I've read your about info's, personally I wanted to know the blogger behind this beautiful blog and I found out that you've been blogging for 7 years already. I am a newbie, I have been blogging for 3 months now about fashion & beauty but I really don't know how to make a product review post. Funny right? but I wanted to know and I hope you can help me with this. On how to be an effective blogger like you? I see your blog is on number three on top blogs, and that is really something. :)

Hi Rica! I was hoping for Liz to comment first, this being her blog, before giving my two cents worth but I couldn't wait! Sorry Liz for being intrimitida! Anyway, I'm not a blogger but these are the things that get me to follow a blog:

Content - It has to be relevant, up-to-date, and varied. If it's a beauty blog, it has to cover reviews, tips, tutorials, advice, events, etc. It has to be a one-stop shop for everything beauty-related but it has to be interesting as well. Content has to be presented with a twist to it so that it doesn't feel redundant especially if there are other blogs covering the same thing.

Photos - The blogger obviously has to maintain a good flow of words but pictures should be descriptive on their own. People like me go through blogs for more information, so the clearer and the more vivid the photos, the better. I think if you're presenting a product or a look that you would like for your readers to try, you simply should have no room for bad photos.

Layout - Very important. Using fonts that are easy on the eyes, placing graphics/photos strategically, and having a layout that's planned and well thought of makes for a pleasant reading.

Person behind the blogger - Well and good if the blog offers the most comprehensive information but it is definitely a big plus if the person behind the blog is accommodating and personable. The whole point of idea sharing would be lost if the perspective gets limited to just that of the blogger's. I appreciate it if other people's opinions are heard as well and are welcomed by the blog owner.

Passion - Special mention for passion. Archives, I think, are a measure of a blogger's passion/body of work and would show how much heart was put into writing. I think a reader can always tell if the posts are carefully prepared, thought of and drafted from the heart as opposed to the ones that got there because something had to get posted!

I wish you good luck on your blog and I hope it becomes, one day, something that I check out as much as this one!:-)
